The Unburied King is one of the Gravelords, the megabosses for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign - Erevan's Guide to Death and Beyond!

The name of the king who would become Atrum Rex, the Black King, has worn away by time like stone turns to dust. Once a soldier of insignificant birth, his rise to power was a bloody path of cunning and bravery. He became a beacon of unity in a land torn apart by petty warlords and political strife. The king’s conquests eventually laid the foundations for an empire, as he brought battle-weary peoples under a united banner through a combination of formidable leadership and sheer military genius.

Seeds of Descent

Once enthroned, his rule brought on a renaissance of culture and prosperity. Atrum Rex's court became renowned across distant shores, attracting poets, philosophers, and artisans from each corner of the world. Under the watchful gaze of their indomitable king, peace flourished, and the kingdom reveled in a golden age. In honor of this unprecedented epoch, a grand fortress was erected as a monument to the king for eternity—a symbol of an everlasting dynasty.

However tragedy struck amidst the height of his reign's splendor, and Atrum Rex's heart was clouded by a shadowy darkness. The death of his wife, Arabella, at the hands of an elven assassin transformed his view of the elven people from trusted allies to subjects of suspicion. This incident seeded a deep paranoia within him, feeding a growing obsession with life's fragility and death's inevitability. He began to perceive the elves, once his closest allies, as inevitable traitors, and their long lives only intensified his distrust and fear. This shift in his mindset marked the beginning of a darker path for Atrum Rex, one that would eventually lead to his downfall.

The Unburied King will terrorize heroes on the table as a 100mm base miniature and will be featured in the book along with his grim lore, different phases of boss combat, all playable at multiple levels!
