Take a look at this hypothetical cover for TWC6 (name redacted, sorry):

They also made an alternate version with pencil stylings for the papers:

The artist used the previous covers as references and the goal is to match styles. Please leave an anonymous vote below, but you're welcome to leave comments as well. I hope to work with one of these two artists, but will go back to the drawing board if necessary.

Teasing the art work getting me all excited about book 6 😂😂

Personally I prefer either the non-pencil version, or perhaps a version where the middle ground is struck -- pencil lines for the red (added, temporary) elements, but leave the contour/topographical lines solid (since they would presumably be the base layer of the map, which is usually the static portion in battle maps). Great regardless!

Alexander Dupree

Definitely not the pencil style it makes it much harder to see the lines.

The blood coming from the stone looks off to me somehow when I look closely at it. It just doesn't seem like a fluid. I like the compass though, it's a very interesting design.

Tbh I would like to see the removal of them marking a map. Instead i would love little wooden markers representing units. Feels much more in line with the setting and doesn't ruin a perfectly good map.

Luke

This is a great style, but to my eyes, it differs more from the previous books than the alternative.

Man, its a shame someone spilled strawberry jam on that stuff.

Haha, that's fair, but the maps are meant to be background in this image. Maybe a future cover can focus on wooden markers.

The compass and the tactical map look amazing. The stone is a bit creepy to me though. If that is the objective though then this is great. If that is the objective I would like to see a little bit more contrast between the stone and the blood.

I like the fact that these maps are clearly indicating troup movements the other artist's cover has a more normal fantasy map...
