We've been tinkering a lot with the UI of the game lately, which includes some internal suggestions we're not quite sure about. One of these is for the new Build Mode UI.

Before viewing these and making your choice, keep in mind that the Craftbook automatically closes once selecting an asset, and there is a little arrow in the top-left to expand or minimize the UI at any time.

Option 1 - More Level, Less Icons

This option is taken from the original version of the new Build Mode UI concept. It features two main rows of icons in the Craftbook, freeing up a tiny bit more space for the level itself.

Option 2 - More Icons, Less Level

This option ever-so-slightly raises the icon area to be taller, making another row of assets visible. This option is more in line with the amount of assets visible in the current Craftbook configuration but it comes at a price - less of the gameplay area is visible while browsing content.

Your Vote

Keep in mind that this is only a concept and not in-game, and that the icon count will vary depending on which section you're looking at (Stamps will show more icons than Props, for example). This is not the UI to be used for Wardrobe, so this concept is only for level creation!

Which one do would you prefer? Option 1 with the more compact Craftbook UI, or option 2 with more content at a glance?

I honestly really prefer the old way with the Craftbook on the right side of the screen. The vast majority of monitors are wider than they are tall, so why take up more of the ever-precious vertical real-estate when it could be pushed to the side? I play another game called Tower Unite that has its item menu (an incredibily simialr one to what is shown in these screenshots!) at the bottom, and it frustrates me constantly. I can't see where I want to put items, and I find it much harder to find items when they are in a few long rows than when they are in many shorter ones. The shorter rows almost act as a form of visual punctuation for my brain, if that makes sense. Longer rows are very overwhelming and I find it easy to lose where I was looking. That aside, if the Craftbook must be horizontal, I prefer seeing more items VS level given that the Craftbook disappears after making a selection. If it did not disappear, I would prefer the opposite.

Stick with the less option; then have it be a setting where you can tick, for the second option . Unless, you plan on doing that with a separate design, with the craft book being the right side of the screen. I believe that the more customization for preference for workflow, is good for a game like this. So I kinda see it counter intuitive to not allow both less and more.
