Important:

Well, it’s been several months longer than I’d hoped, but I’ve finally ported most of the game over to RPG Maker. This is going to be a long, rambly post, so I’ll lead with things you should know going into it. First, is the image pack. You can download the rendered or anime version, but since the images take up very little space, they will all have the other pack downloaded as well. If you want to switch over to a different image pack at any point, just swap the folders “pictures”, “faces”, and “sv_enemes” within the “img” folder of the game, (which is in turn in the “www” folder). You’ll be swapping them with the folders with the same name that have “(alt)” attached to the end of their name. Also, there is a debugger item you should have in your key items at all times. If you ever get physically stuck, you can use it to teleport back to Elmgar, and if the screen goes black and stays that way but you can still use the menu, you can also use the “untint” option to fix the screen. Obviously, I’ve fixed the black screen issue where I’ve found it, but there are a lot of events that tint the screen black before restoring it, so I added that function in just in case there are any issues.

Everything else is in little categories to hopefully make it a bit less all over the place.

Html5 issues:

If you get an error that begins with "DataManager.checkError@file", this link should provide a solution, I've only tested it on Firefox but it should work on Chrome as well. It does require you disable a build in security feature of these browsers, and while I don't think it's a big deal because I only had this option re-enabled when I recently refreshed Firefox, I still have to say to do so at your own risk.

I’ve also discovered a nice little last-minute error when trying to run the html5 version of the game, in that the plugin that lets you creator your own character doesn’t work when deployed in html5, isn’t that lovely! Because of the way the plugin works, if you want to use the html5 version of the game, you’ll get this “<CC Face: 1>” in front of every passage the player character says, and you will be forced to use the default face for your character. I also think the face I had to overwrite to make this work was used for a one off npc at some point, but I’m not going looking for that right now. If you have a conversation with your doppelganger, let me know. I’m going to see what I can do about this issue, but it’s definitely not going to be quick. From what I’ve read, the plugin is written in a way that would require a lot of tinkering to fix, as it uses a function that cannot be run in a browser, so I’ll probably need to get someone else to do it for me. Also the html5 version might have an error on start-up if you use chrome, I couldn’t find a fix easier than just using firefox instead though, so I recommend that if you have issues with it.

I went and tested up to the first dungeon after that to make sure there weren’t any other issues, but so far the rest of the content seems to work, so that’s nice. Keep in mind that your progress is saved to your browser if you use this version, so be careful about wiping your browser’s data, and when updating to a newer version make sure the main folder has the same name as the one before it. (As in, the current game will be named “CiC Anime” or “CiC Rendered” depending on the art pack you chose, if you update to a new version called “CiC Anime 0.10.1” or something, rename it to “CiC Anime” or you won’t have access to your save files.)

Info for feedback:

If you have feedback on the game, this section will identify some things I’ve left out that I plan to add, just haven’t had time to do yet. First off, the church and elven village haven’t been ported over yet. They don’t build on any other content for the most part, so I pushed them back a bit. Additionally, the transformation events for Beatrice’s potions aren’t in, and Skirts and More has a limited clothing selection, mostly because I haven’t put in the check appearance function, which makes clothes essentially just stat checks at the moment. That leads into some new things I plan to do soon for the RPG Maker version. Right now, clothes don’t change the players appearance, but with the standard player model already in the game, I’m hoping to get sprites for all of the in-game clothing options. Whether that’s through assets others have created, me creating them myself, or commissioning sprite work for them, I’m not yet sure. Most likely a combination of the three, depending on how much time it takes me to create them myself (and how good mine look).

There are also some minor locations that I haven’t created areas for, stuff like the entrances to dungeons, or the room you can rent at the bar. Events that use yet to be created areas will just fade to black while they occur instead, which I know doesn’t look very good, but I do intend to have locations for these events eventually. The last thing I’ve yet to add is facial expressions. Characters just stick to one expression the whole time you talk to them, for the most part. I left this for time of course, but also because I plan to have artwork done for most of the characters, so using the character creator in RPG Maker to make all these expressions and set them up would be a waste of time once they got new artwork.

Also, I plan to spruce up the locations in general. Most of the quest areas look pretty decent as is, but the shops around town are very basic, and the goblin hunting quest sucks. They are on my list of things to improve.

Bug Reporting:

If you find a bug, please include which version of the game you are running. One of the main things I’m expecting is little text errors coming from me copying and pasting passages over. For example, if you see something that looks like code like this -> <span class=Beatrice>, that’s a text code left over from porting the game. If you do find one of those, let me know what event it is from, or even better, include a quote of some of the text where you found it, so I can ctrl+F to find the issue faster. If you see // or '' around words like ''this'', that is essentially the same issue.

If you have issues with the images in-game, be sure to mention which image pack you are using as well.

Plan for version 0.11

If you’ve read everything else in this post, you’ve probably realized there are a lot of things I still want to do in RPG Maker that don’t really contribute to new things you can actually do in-game. My current plan for that is to use at least have of my time making new content. More, if I’m able to complete everything else at a good rate, but I really don’t know how long these things will take, so I’ll have to see how it turns out as I go.

New Content:

It will be in the walkthrough as well, but the majority of the new content comes from walking into the bottom left corner of the slime pit, still on the area where the slime is lighter in color. After that you’ll have the option to explore deeper into the slime, which leads to the new content. The other new stuff is easy to encounter, either defeat an Elf in combat, or get hit by one of the hypno traps in the second dungeon.

Feedback Topics:

Lastly, some things that would be great to have feedback on. The main one is probably images. As you’ll see in-game, images appear to show the full body of a character when they first appear, then just stick to the face image. With sex scenes, some characters will reappear in a nude version and stay on screen for longer. (I forgot to get nude versions for the rendered image pack, but they will have them.) The main question is, how much value do you get out of this? Should I do more images to suit sex scenes? For example, Beatrice’s image shows her naked in the first scene with her, when in reality she should only be stripped to her underwear. Should I commission artwork of her in her underwear, or is it fine to just have a clothed and nude version? Changes of clothes don’t cost as much as full characters, but money is less of an issue than time right now, I’ll be commissioning things as fast as the artists can make them pretty much. Also, do image inconsistencies bother you? For example, I accidentally commissioned the anime version of the Alraune to have her vines covering her private bits, when the description of her basically says the opposite should be true, but I still think it looks really good, so I don’t know if it would be worth it to redo the artwork to match my description better.

That’s everything I can think of at the moment, but I might update this post if I’ve forgotten anything, because I probably have.

As mentioned before, the download should be available in the folder from my last post.

Finally it's here! Thank you very much for you work. Can't wait to try it out once I get home from work.

Troqu

Finally had a chance to play this: On the windows version. After the Elf village gangbang the screen never faded back in from black.
