I think that all of the “Ask A” and, potentially, theological discussions are so important. Whether you are or disagree with the perspective it’s important to be aware of how others see the world. I recently had to breakdown gender non-conformity, trans, gender non-binary to my 60 year old mother. She initially just thought it was nonsense, but by the end she UNDERSTOOD another perspective although those issues are not her own. I believe that having discussions about religious text does not diminish your sincerely held beliefs. If we want the world to be more accepting of us for what we believe and how we identify (black lives matter, women’s rights, trans lives, colorism etc.) we should at least be willing to learn about other perspectives. Otherwise, we are saying if you don’t believe what I believe your wrong and going to hell. That is not the way, God is love.
