My friends, you voted for a theory lesson on the wishlist this month - in fact, this topic was the clear winner! So I did my very best to present you with everything you need to know about the circle of fifths in a fast and fun video :)

It's not as crazy and intimidating as it looks - in fact, the circle of fifths has a lot of amazing practical applications. I hope this lesson helps with understanding everything in detail, this could really help you out with learning/understanding scales and keys!

As you will see, it can also help you a lot with finding the chords in a key quickly, which is my personal favorite trick that a lot of people don't know about. It also helps with identifying how many accidentals you have in a key and you can quickly spot the relative minor keys.

There's more theory coming next week (with lots of downloadable files), if you're looking for something to practice right now, make sure to check out last week's legato workout! Have an awesome day :)

I have to start at zero when it comes to music theory. I'm so thankful for those lessons.

Another lightbulb moment here, thanks Bernth, I often wondered how you remember which sharps and flats went with which key. I think I have it now but Imwill watch this several more times.

GREAT GREAT POST! Everyone makes the circle of fifths so complicated. Your post is so straightforward and makes sense. Thank you so much.

Thank you! fantastic as always

Thanks for this representative video. It's funny how the sharps become flats as you go around the circle in both directions. Technically, you can go in circles forever. *just kidding*

100 - thanks Bernth. showing the COF on the guitar board was really useful. i learned it on piano and conceptually understand it but applying it to guitar has been elusive, this was great.
