My friends, you voted for more rhythm workouts on the platform - so since we already did a Metal/Downstroke workout together recently, I put together something special :)

This Funk/strumming workout will really challenge and loosen up your picking hand! It is also the perfect follow-up topic to last week's string muting lesson. Here are all your practice files(full play-along, backing tracks with/without guitar, guitar pro with instrumentation, tabs): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bh-vs6s2l1EMjerGbcyQnR7XXpSrpiwf?usp=sharing

Make sure to aim for 32nd notes and not 16th note triplets with the fast deadnotes! This is a common mistake, you definitely want 4 notes and not 3 for the maximum percussive effect :) Hope you have fun!

P.S.: Here's a Dropbox link in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/llb4e19cisav5ko/AADbBue04z8qC-rMNZsVik5ea?dl=0

I'll try this out for sure. I listened through it and it seems the level 7 (100bpm) sounded the best to my ears. good pace and the notes had a good flow. Any faster and it looks pretty stressful!!

I just joined the VIP this month and I am so glad I found your videos! This workout is something I needed! Rhythm is a fundamental part of playing guitar that is almost always overlooked by many! Another awesome workout! Thanks Bernth!

does anyone have a link to the previous "metal/downstroke" workouts? I can't seem to find them...

With this Workout how do you count 32nd notes? I have never been good at counting them?

Are you using the jazz III pick for this or a thinner one? Thanks

Any tips for not getting the pick stuck between strings in the faster strums? Do you change the angle for those? Much less pressure than when using the unmuted notes? I'm using Jazz3 pick. Can't get past 70 BPM

bernth

My tip would be practicing deadnotes across multiple strings with strumming and keeping the motion as small as possible - only playing with the tip :)
