Happy Friday, my friends! While I'm currently hard at work concerning your wishlist topics, I'd like to go over a topic that has been requested quite often in general - how do you decide which exercises to actually work on regularly?

Here are your practice files (exercise video play-alongs, tabs, guitar pro files, backing tracks), I added the original lesson number to each folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16gXk2xhDatX6S_UMFN9IzaedxCTxt0mw?usp=sharing

In this video, I'd like to share how I would personally rank some popular exercises we looked at over the years. I hope this helps you with making your own routine much more effective :)

By the way, here's a Dropbox folder in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ol9sgvj262l3hq3/AABe0ASZsoNO38qAUmFNyCexa?dl=0

Thanks a lot Bernth, but I was wondering where is the caged exercises routine? I’m just too bad at music theory 😩

Hey, question for all, including Bernth. How does everyone practice their exercises within a routine? I know, with the challenge videos, we start at, let's say, 50 bpm and go up from there. So, is the best way to start slow and work up, or start at the bpm you can play fast and controlled, than work up from there? All thoughts appreciated.

Any chance in turning the Paganini exercise into a full cover?? I absolutely love this piece :D I know the Bernth already made an Caprice 24 cover, but there is never enough of Paganini :D

That wild sweep picking lick Bernth runs through right around the three minute mark, what lesson is that from??

bernth

I'd love to do more neoclassical shredding at some point in the future 🤘

That's actually a great video topic Chris! I'll add it to the next voting, I'd love to discuss this in detail!

Hello, it's the first thing that pops up when you search for 'CAGED' on the page: https://www.patreon.com/posts/176-3-best-solo-52915479 The link is in the post!

Hi bernth another great video BUT..........where are the expression melodic exercise workout ideas based in actual playing of music , like various arpeggios done only in various pitch bends ? With the vibrato , like maybe what David Gilmour and Gary Moore do lol

Anonymous

I just think a daily workout needs bends 😊

I like the Paganini - Moto Perpetuo exercise, found it at the perfect time. It hits just the right weak spots I have while being a lot of fun to play. Occasionally it makes me feel like I almost deserve to own a guitar. 5/5

Do you think there's a point of diminishing returns with doing exercises? Been doing your sweep picking lessons for 1-2 hours a day. Would you recommend that or should I shorten my routine?

bernth

If you feel like you mastered them already, you can definitely look for more challenging workouts on the page or push the tempo further :) 1-2h of just sweeping seems excessive though, make sure to get a balanced routine based on all techniques and theory skills you will need on your personal journey! Just my input :)

Start slow! Playing lower tempos is BORING but it forces patience and reenforces timing.

I have watched a lot of "tier list" style videos, and i always think they should have a capacity for the top 3 ranks. Otherwise everything ends up in S tier a lot of the time!
