Happy Saturday, and happy new update to The Groom of Gallagher Mansion!

Alpha Version 0.2 is now LIVE!

Changelog:

  • New choice at the beginning: choice of gender-neutral "wedding attire" along with tuxedo and gown options
  • Typos in the briefing choice menu fixed
  • Script now playable up to Scene 12

Patrons at the $5 A Little Bite tier and higher can access the alpha here. If you're having trouble accessing your early access copy, don't buy it! Please message us privately on Patreon instead and we'll custom generate a key for you, or help troubleshoot your Patreon - itch.io connection if possible.

Additionally, we are currently investigating an issue with Mac users playing on macOS Monterey Version 12.6.3 or older, as I (BáiYù) am able to test the game successfully on macOS Ventura Version 13.0. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

A huge thanks to Oriana for getting this update out this week, as it's been pretty busy for us! More details on that later.

Art Progress

Sharkowskii continues hitting it out of the ballpark with the CGs, as you can see above! This particular scene takes place during the beginning when Taylor is speaking to the Student Union Chairperson about the fate of the OHSIC.

We actually had a bit of back and forth on this CG since Sharkowskii's initial sketch had Taylor much closer to the screen than what we probably wanted, so I tossed away any semblance of pride I had by sketching my own version of the composition I was envisioning.

There's a reason I'm not an artist, but this sketch was enough to give Sharkowskii a better idea of how to move forward.

Much closer! We greenlit this version and set to work on the lineart soon after. Since this scene also encompasses quite a few lines, I also listed out some of the expressions needed.

Like this if you love it when dudes go gremlin mode hehehe.

Voice Recording Progress

Sauce, Aura, Pax, and I got together a few nights this week to practice Elias' speech mannerisms while recording the responses to the Character Q&A. Pax is a lot more confident about nailing the accent moving forward, so hopefully next week we'll be recording some lines for everyone!

Team Additions

This week we're adding MidnightBlu (the voice of Nick from SDJ) to the team to voice some of our side characters, as well as welcoming TerminusDoll to the SnaccPop Studios crew as our dedicated Sensitivity Reader! TerminusDoll is providing further advice to our writers on matters of disability and other topics, and fae has already given us a lot of feedback on editing a certain scene in TGoGM. Look forward to another post in the future with a short interview on what TerminusDoll will bring to the table!

Moving Forward

Oriana and I will likely be unable to commit to the project for the next two weeks, but that's only because we're headed to Game Developers Conference 2023! This is a huge event in San Francisco, California where game developers from tons of companies all over the world gather to talk and network with each other from March 20-24. I don't want to make any promises, but with any luck we'll be looking at a whole new set of opportunities for SnaccPop Studios.

The rest of the Gallagher Mansion team will continue development of course but this does mean that the Saturday reports might be late or pretty short, depending on how much time I can set aside to writing them. It's likely that we'll see some translation updates on Sleepy Time Jack as we're back to $6000/mo on the Patreon!

That's all for this week. Cheers!

Tiny review of the Alpha version 0.2: The music so far is on point, I love the artwork and the story is told in a really engaging way. Great work. Also, the references of Sunny were hilarious.

Finally got to playing the alpha and it was fun! I'm really interested to see where it goes, even if lying to Elias kind of feels like twisting the knife a bit. Also, very interested to see where these visions of Violet lead to.
