Game Projects Report 01/28/23 (Patreon)

Running a bit late this Saturday due to multiple teammates feeling a bit under the weather, but here's another one of BáiYù's round-ups of game progress reports.

One of these days I should figure out if I want to refer to myself in the first or third person, huh.

Something's Wrong With Sunny Day Jack - Unity Demo Remake

Here's a screenshot of the Unity project environment, demonstrating a live preview of the game. The much asked-for quickmenu will be present, as it was stripped out of the TyranoBuilder version due to bugs.

Additionally, as Sauce has posted earlier this week, the rest of the Sunny Day Jack cast are getting a few sprite upgrades to correct anatomy, consolidate expression pieces, etc. Like with Jack's sprite, this will make it easier moving forward to add in various expressions in the script.

Sleepy Time Jack Version 0.1.5 Changelog

• Further optimization of the DigiDaki Engine to accommodate future translations
• Renamed audio files accordingly for the above
• New Message Interval settings: 1 and 2 Minutes
• New Sleep Timer setting: Off (Jack will not close the app for you)
• New About section added: Patrons

Mole and I brainstormed ideas on how to make the dictionary entries less messy as our previous solution was admittedly very ugly. Even if no one else besides us programmers were going to look at it, there had to be a way to make it less atrocious, right? After a lot of banging our heads together, we managed to bring it from this:

To this:

What a drastic improvement! dial_key_X now functions as the entire label containing the dialogue, and along with the persistent.lang_voice variable set in the Preferences screen, creates the string that specifies with audio file to play.

        ## Separate function for playing voices so players can split audio and text language

The Groom of Gallagher Mansion Progress

The wordcount has surpassed 13K, with 13/19 scenes written. We've unfortunately run behind schedule due to several of our teammates falling under the weather, but we're doing our best to chip away at those scenes.

Elias moves towards the glass cabinet with a bounce in his… float? Swinging the doors open, he starts humming.

Elias: Our wedding cake must be unforgettable! My grandmother was quite the baker in her prime, her desserts absolutely divine~

Elias: And if memory serves right, her layer cakes were quite delectable. Not as filling as your usual cake, but I’m sure you’ll agree with me that to skip them is a mistake!

Taylor: Oh my god, he just said layer cake with a straight face.

Y/N: Get your head out of the gutter or I'll put you in your place.
