I just got an update from Sandra over at The Medieval Magazine. That publication is moving from 12 issues per year to 8 issues. Since we have many of you who get this magazine through our tiers, I wanted to take a poll of what you would like to get in the months when an issue is not published. I have a couple of ideas:

1) We could replace it with an older issue of Medieval Warfare magazine.

2) We could create a special article exclusively for our Patreon

Let me know if you like one of these choices, or if you have some other ideas.

I am sure this advice is more than totally unnecessary, but as someone who works for a publisher that puts out several catalogues a year, I thought I'd weigh in! The cost of paper and postage can be so prohibitive; if cutting back from 12 issues to 8 has anything to do with costs, you might want to weigh the cost of postage to send an additional issue vs. what was already spent on the older issues (stock, etc). Again, none of my business, but I haven't had the chance to talk shop with anyone since the pandemic began and I guess I miss it more than I thought! Regardless, I think it's awesome that you're giving patrons a choice. :)

Thanks - it's actually a digital magazine that Sandra runs, so printing and postage aren't involved. My understanding that it is COVID-related though, so I hope she will get back to doing 12 issues per year.

I have always been interested in medieval history. So getting to know it better will be fun. And I listen to Danielle the 5 minute medievalist.
