There's going to be a new special mode/holiday event for the end of the year! It's been mostly planned out, and this is actually what I'll be working on next, to be released as Beta 9.3 in a few weeks. Some time before that, perhaps next week, there'll be a prerelease out on Patreon because this is going to introduce a whole new way to play Cogmind (again?!) and it could probably use some balancing :P

Unlike Holiday Mode 2018, this mode will be made a permanent part of the game, and if it turns out okay it could be useful for helping those who don't enjoy item destruction, or prefer character progression in their roguelike: It's called "RPGLIKE" and will basically turn Cogmind on its head to feature a regenerating core, indestructible parts (while on Cogmind), and an XP-based leveling/upgrade system.

Movement QoL

The next article coming to the blog talks about all the movement-related QoL features I've been working on. I've embedded it in image form below, but you can also check out the text version here (with all of its gifs). The password for access is "moveit".

Sounds awesome! Part destruction is pretty frustrating as a pacifist :)

Heh, I dunno, we'll see. It's at least mostly planned out, but there are a lot of little details that may end up needing tweaked and I'm already way behind on this whole thing because it turns out this is the beginning of December and I need to get the annual review out first... But part destruction frustrating as a pacifist?! If you're doing pacifism you can eventually just stop interacting with enemies altogether xD I think that will honestly be one of the (many possible...) unbalanced areas of this alternative design, allowing players to ignore most threats. Anyway, I guess it'll come down to the specifics of implementation, like regen rate.
