At the base of the mountain a campfire crackles. Everything is stiff with frost. The adventurers hardly dare peer up out of the flames. They’re afraid to see to the submit lest the weight of tomorrow’s hike become too much to handle. They wonder why they even took on this job. Would the gold be worth the frostbite? Worried glances spread among them until one of the huddled campers points up beyond the clouds to a glimmering light high in the mountains, and takes a deep, icy breath.
"Up there, where the frost condors roost far beyond the treeline, they say there's an observatory that can peer deep into space, beyond the void and even into distant planes. An eye without limits. It sees through the battling nautiloids, past the frozen astral gods, back beyond the dark and the light to where the primordials reside beyond the edge of time.
But others say the telescope is a facade, a sham of metal and glass. A lie to keep away the righteous. They say its true purpose is arcane cannon, built by an artificer-lich, with the power to bend magic and snuff out stars.
And some people say up at the top of that mountain there's just monkeys sitting around in hotsprings picking fleas off each other.
There's only one way to find out."

Hey everyone!

This is another 2-part map we've been working on for a while. This 1st part is the treacherous mountain ascent. And the 2nd part will be the interior of the observatory, the cabin and the cave, as well as several floors of the geothermal caves within the mountain. So keep an eye out for that!

Edit: Part 2 is now available here.

We sort of got carried away with variations, so there's 32 in total for this map!

P.S. We hope you all saw the new animated Coral Throne battlemap we posted earlier!

P.P.S. DM Dave keeps asking for Roc nests, so you can thank him for that variation.

YOUR TIMING CANNOT BE MORE APPROPRIATE. I am literally doing a mountain top adventure on the weekend paired with your craggy valley dragon flight asset and this is perfect for the next session. Thank you so much~

I have got to say the variations are... always so inspired. The Balloon!? Like WHAT? It makes me want to put a balloon in my game!

Zach Reuter

This one is absolutely superb and really embraces the fantastic, always hard to find maps that encapsulate this kind of "adventure" feeling. Great stuff. This is what I subscribed for!

Kielley Bade

This map is stunning! And also feels like its begging for a followup inside the observatory? Id love to see all the stuff you could do with that tower/space :) thank you!!

The imagination you have for variety is simply incredible. Even when you realease a map that I think I won't have an immediate use for, I'll look at the variants and without fail will see something that I suddenly have plans for.

Very nice ! Can't wait to see the inside ^^

The hot air balloon is now available as a token attached to the post, for those that want to use it elsewhere.

Oh, well this answers "where should I send the players next." Looking forward to the interior!

DM Dave

Uh, where's my damn roc nest version?

Bradley

Adore this.
