The song that kept getting whistled is "Sweet Georgia Brown" which is actually the theme song for the Harlem Globetrotters. As far as the Globetrotters being used in the episode I'm guessing it's a reference to the late 60's and 70's cartons in which they made special guest appearances like Scooby Doo (they even had their own short lived cartoon) . One more weird Globetrotter thing that you may wanna check out is the story of their game on January 25, 1971 where they lost against the team they almost always play The Washington Generals, they have used a few other names over time but it is the same team. It is the one recorded win the Generals have.

Your between episode transition ended up being very appropriate for the 2 episodes lol. The gremlin in The Scary Door bit is actually designed after the one from The Twilight Zone episode "Terror at 20,000 Feet", and is pretty spot on. The Hitler thing is most likely a reference to The Twilight Zone episode "The Man in the Bottle" though might also have been influenced by the episode "He's Alive" . The gambling bit is probably a Twilight Zone reference too, it seems the kind of twist
