March Madness : Gold Cobra (Patreon)

Also took a day to get José's 「Gold Cobra」 somewhat explained for those that were asking about it and it's relation to 「Blackhole Sun」.

So「Gold Cobra」is a secondary stand power that belongs to 「Blackhole Sun」, similar to 「Sheer Heart Attack」for 「Killer Queen」. However, being a gun, both José and BHS can wield the weapon.

When summoned, the gun will phase-in (similar to Hol Horse's stand). It is meant to mimic the "up-the-sleeve" Derringer from old Western movies.

The name for this ability is based on both the Cobra Derringer and the Limp Bizkit song "Gold Cobra". The cobra is also significant as one of two animals depicted on the Mexican flag.

The gun slips around both the index and middle fingers. The "chamber" is actually like a ring, that is spun to gather and release energy. The gun fires at the stop of the spinning, which is done by dropping down the thumb.

The chamber/ring can be spun with either the thumb or anything really (in the shot below, he uses his other hand).

Energy from the host, the surrounding area, and even converted matter, creates a tiny blackhole, while simultaneously firing energy that is super-charged and launched through the blackhole. Meaning a very powerful blast (charged with a big spin), could drain José quite a bit (possibly to death).

The "bullet", which is really just a gravity propelled energy blast, has a gravity trail that actually drags along matter that it passes through. The bullets have a very short range and dissipate quickly. 

The premise behind the "blackhole bullet" is based on a neat lil' phenomenon I came across in the news. As with all things related to blackholes, it's all theoretical. And even more pertinent, it kinda doesn't matter how real the science is...it's JoJo lol.

Araki's done a fine service by injecting numerous factoids into the series. Many are true, some are pretty loose, and others are completely fictitious.   

There's plenty of fun uses for a tool like this, and rather than have a punch-heavy stand, I thought a stand more like Jolyne's「Stone Free」(coming up with neat ways to utilize her power in different situations) would be more fun. 

I've always loved the problem solving aspect of JoJo, and definitely want to bring back a bit of the part 2 "out-smarting" flavor of combat.
