Hello!

Fantasy epicness is here!  So for Sigmar's diorama, I did a little tweak of his concept art.  Back when Sigmar was still ruling the empire, Nagash decided to crash the party and attack the capital of Reikdorf.  There's actually a lot of events leading up to this, but eventually Sigmar leads an army against Nagash and faces him in single combat.

Although Sigmar is as hard as they come, Nagash is a lich and there is no fantasy setting where liches are not at the top of the food chain.  So Nagash was handing Sigmar his ass with BS magic but the lich got greedy and reached for the crown on Sigmar's head (it actually belongs to Nagash but that's a whole other story).  So in that moment of distraction Sigmar manages to land a critical hit on him and take the win.  So yeah, pretty epic victory which I thought would be cool to capture.  And while bagging an orc warboss is nothing to scoff at, defeating a lich always gives you way more XP and street cred 😄.  This moment deserves to be captured as a statue in Reikdorf!

Moving onto Middle-earth I've recreated the epic battle between Morgoth and Fingolfin.  Oh yeah, now that is a duel for the ages! 🔥 Some Middle-earth experts gave me tips on Morgoth's actual appearance and weaponry.  Based on their descriptions I gave Morgoth an unhelmed version and also included his spear which can apparently spit fire.  Apparently there is some debate as to whether Grond is a mace or a hammer.  Doesn't look like there will ever be a consensus so I'll just include both versions.  I'll probably add some more battle damage to Morogth's armour which will explain why he looks so pissed.  I've also updated Fingolfin's shield to look more elfy, the first version didn't really do it for me.

I made a few tweaks to Sylvanus as well.  She'll get different options for a taught or loose bow, optional arrow add-on, an unhooded version and a version that's closer to her original concept.

The Sci Fi Poll is still up so feel free to cast your vote!

Love love love the Sigmar. Gonna print one at 32mm scale too for wargaming.

Is there a chance to get a symmetric blade on Fingolfin? Don't get me wrong, you do you, but as a huge Tolkien nerd those asymmetric elven blades really bother me since they made there first appearance in the LOTR movie trilogy. (Glamdring the foe hammer, Orkrist the goblin cleaver - which should look just like Glamdring as they are sister blades, Sting, etc. are examples of elven made blades I'm refering to).

Poor not Nagash. That's a brilliant use of existing assets to pretty up and give lots of action to a figure. Well done 3DAG!

That is tremendous! Awesome work!

Loving the Sylvanas sculpt, and that the bow has a bowstring that wont break instantly. Might not be as pretty but at least it will print and not be under constant risk of damage.

Hi, if that's more lore consistent I'll try to provide the option for a symmetrical elven blade.

Thanks! 👍 Yeah, got to make the bowstrings thicker for durability.

Lore wise the Noldor are the greatest blacksmiths ever, even surpassing the dwarfs. The weapon of elven choice in general and the Noldor choice in particular is the longsword, so double edged with a grip usable with both hands and no room for asymmetry. Looking at real life longswords, they measure around 100 to 130 cm with a 90 to 110 cm long blade (the term longsword is rather unprezise, but still), which would probably be longer for Noldor elves, measuring an average hight of 2.15m, if I remember correctly, compared to an avareage hight of 1.80m (maybe a bit smaller) for common men (Numenorans were taler, around 1.95m as far as I remember). Tolkien had a tendency to equate hight with power and nobility.

Well... I'm in love with Middle Earth for over 30 years now. One or the other thing stuck. 😉
