Hello!

Fantasy Month is here and who better to roll it in than Smaug!  You know him, you fear him, Smaug is undoubtedly the most famous dragon from J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece setting.  Considered the last great dragon to exist in Middle-earth, he was drawn towards the enormous wealth amassed by the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain during the reign of King Thrór. I'm guessing most have probably read or seen the Hobbit but his hightlights include laying waste to the nearby city of Dale, capturing the Lonely Mountain and driving the surviving Dwarves into exile.  And with that, Smaug kickstarts one of the greatest series of fantasy stories ever written.

Smaug's influence can be felt in all fantasy settings like Forgotten Realms as he is the standard template for all future dragon variations.  And you know, he spawned the trope that all dragons love to hoard treasure.  I know his original incarnation didn't include front legs but I actually really like that about dragons in modern depictions.  So I'll probably include a version of Smaug with them.

Next we have the assassin!  Like I said, I always love a good assassin character.  Whether it's great assassin games like Hitman or...Hitman, there's just something really satisfying about offing powerful figureheads, like the rules of society don't apply to you.  I stuck pretty close to the concept, but included more tools of the trade.  I'll probably include a pose showing the assassin performing her craft.

Guts in Berserk Armour coming up in a bit.  Stay tuned!

Your sculpts are NUTS! I'm always blown away by your skill to produce this quality of work.

Smaug is absolutely incredible. Amazing work!

Looks good, but I think the dragon should only have 2 hind legs, since the front ones are the wings.

I love the look of Smaug as a true dragon and not his classic Wyvern depiction! Thank you for giving that amazingness!

Yep, I'll provide a classic look with two hind legs only and the more modern version with two front legs. 👍

Eh, Tolkien's own artworks* for the Hobbit all depict Smaug with 4 legs and 2 wings, so not sure where the "classic 2 legs 2 wings" idea originates. Other dragons, sure. Smaug? Not so much. In this, the depiction in the movies is actually inaccurate. So, thanks for giving a version that uses the nice movie design but is actually faithful to Tolkien's art. *As, for example, the one on the map he drew for the book, and the cover art. Also, this awesome one I just found: https://www.reddit.com/r/lotr/comments/aoxv7z/j_r_r_tolkiens_original_smaug_artwork_at_his/

hmmm... love the wyvern option for that dragon and the scales on that skin look really neat. I PARTICULATLY love the work you did on that armor though. Really neat looking.

I had high expectations when Smaug was chosen. Ye cats I was not disappointed. The assassin looks great, too -- she'll be fun to print and paint.

Absolutely awesome! Love the concept of not sticking to the movie “whyvern” (wordplay 😜) version. Will you also include the detail of the weak spot scale (even if literally was not a scale, in the original lore Smaug’s armor was made by the gold and gems he slept on for decades) Love the assassin, will be fun to print ;)

Thanks! 👍 Oh right, the weak spot. Yeah, I'll dig up where that was again.

Nice! In the book, if my mind helps me, is near the left armpit. Anyway, your works are really amazing, good job! ;)

Looks stunning! Can't wait to print them
