Constellations 06 - Cancer, The Crab (Patreon)

 Cancer!!! The first thing that comes to mind is a strong mothering, feminine energy. Smooth shapes and circles everywhere!!!

 Actually when i was doing studies for the head, one of the tries was an actual circle. I didn't went with it but it helped nailing down the final model.

 For the hair i really wanted a long, fancy, silver hair... I wanted to implement the crab motif on his hair - i started getting into Chinese and Korean hairstyles that have a high level of structure to them to make a claw top knot. Though i didn't want to go for a Chinese aesthetic with cancer!!! so i got what i liked about them and made a more bridal style with the elements.

 A pudgy dude with wide hips and plumpy moobs! round shapes everywhere! That's what Cancer brings to mind tbh.

 I've been doing a monochromatic approach with the constellations, but I've been thinking on adding distinct elements on the color design. For Cancer it was the bright, highly saturated red gloves. I really wanted to bring out the crab motif with him, and nothing reminds me more of crabs than the red pinchers! I tried distributing the red in the design but ultimate i preferred it isolated in the gloves.

 For the star node, i went with a cyclical design, i don't have much practice with it but i had fun!
