"Try to do Better" - a comic WIP (10/17/20) (Patreon)

After a day of running around my office packing and moving shit and checking items off a list, I came home mentally exhausted and emotionally drained but made myself clean my apartment anyway. It's funny how much accumulates when you're just in and out all the time, things staying where you dropped them as you enter. Piling up. I figure it's best to try to stay on top of things best I can for my own sanity.

For the move (my office is going into storage) I've been trying to things in wide swaths, alternating from one thing to the next so everything gets touched and when I come down to the wire some things may not be 100% but they'll be close. I started doing something similar to this with my drawing these days. I haven't had any time to write or do any pre-work with character design, but I've been sitting down in the morning over coffee and working on the comic. HOWEVER, I had been doing it a panel at a time and quickly realized that wasn't getting the job done.

When I do one panel at a time, it's really easy to miss details that should exist across the whole strip. So, I began working on taking whole passes on the strip in waves. In my younger days I was such a perfectionist nothing every got done, now I usually do three passes and move on, even if "that hand isn't right" - do your best in those three passes and try to do better next time you a draw a hand.

I'm hitting a point in this first story where I'm concerned that we haven't gotten to the fucking yet. But I know it's because of production time, not the script - but I will print it all out so far and see how it reads in case it is the script. So far, this dirty NSFW strip is feeling pretty talky.
