I've been brushing up on my storyboard skills lately, I've only had a little experience with it when I worked in animation studios. One of the things I've taken from this research and been applying to my comic work is working on the X and Z axes - which is just a drawing nerds way of saying draw in 3-dimensions. This sometimes involves foreshortening - which I was never particularly good at but sometimes you just gotta or everything comes out flat as shit.

I have a whole file of photos of boners taken from the head on. A foreshortened dick is really difficult to draw believably because the shape is so unique. It's similar to the underside of a chin (not in shape, but in drawing difficulty). I also find it tricky to draw things like abs sloping down in perspective from a 3/4 angle (see above) - but I just tell myself to start with a foundation on the X and Y axes, build out the shapes and give the perspective and foreshortening just a little push.

A couple of little pushes from this morning:

• Matt's pitched tent was originally smaller but I increased the size of the whole thing to get it above my horizon line. I thought about reducing Kevin's perspective to make the shot more dramatic but I think it will block out Leo and I need him there.
• The depth of this apartment is questionable. The distance between the sofa/Kevin/Matt and the wall with the plant and TV is not supposed to be this far but I was okay with pushing it back for the needs of this panel. I'm given myself permission to not have the apartment locked down for this first story, but because of that I keep forgetting that this is post-party and the place should be a mess.
