Hello Crew! Hail to the Union, and all that Jazz! π
Wow... I think it's safe to say that v0.3.4b went well! π A big welcome on board to all my new Patrons, a hearty shout-out to everyone who stuck with me from last month, and a massive thanks for helping me breach the latest Goal! π₯³
Because of you, SpaceCorps is now ranked the 172nd biggest Adult Game on Patreon... and I know we have a lot further to go. Size matter π β and as SpaceCorps climbs the board, it is able to attract more players and more money to invest in the game π€
Anyway, enough gloating... I'm sure you're much more interested in what I'm up to right now!
STATUS REPORT:
My computer fan broke down again! π± Constant image rendering is murder on fans, coolers and noise reducers, and it seems my own attempt to fix it last year was merely temporary. The Beast has been sent off to the shop for a nip and tuck, and I'm reduced to working on the Desktop PC I started making the game with π§ββοΈ
That means that I can't currently render at all, since the PC can't handle the sort of graphics SpaceCorps now features. It feels weird β I've been running constant renders for over 2 years, and not having sexy pics pouring out on a daily basis makes me feel slightly anxious. Heck, I actually miss the 24-hour-a-day chugging and screeching of the render engine! π€ͺ
Still, this enforced separation has had some benefits, too:
When you're making a game, you don't tend to have much spare time for normal things [like eating and shaving π] β let alone for all the dull admin stuff. That's built up rather a lot β and I've literally spent days reorganising my SpaceCorps files and folders, because the mess they were in was starting to slow down development. Here's hoping I didn't accidentally delete anything important! π¬π€
I've also started on the first part of the latest Goal - a spending spree for things I need. I'll talk about this more in another post - but so far I've got a new phone [so I can actually test the Android version!]; and bought a second-hand MacBook that should make the Mac release easier [the clunky old Mac I've been using takes forever to compile!] πΈ
Oh, and the Government was becoming increasingly insistent that I pay some taxes, so I had to do a whole load of maths. Yawn.
It's not just admin, though:
I now have a solid block of time to spend on the Walkthoughs and Personnel Files. I've almost finished the Walkthoughs from the end of the Brig scene to the moment you make your PLI choice, and you'll be seeing that in a couple of days. π
I've also been able to do a big chunk of writing β which is easier without the aforementioned chugging and screeching of the renders π For those who haven't seen my haphazard comments about the next updates, here's the plan:
THE PLAN:
There are now 2 updates left in Phase 1. Some of you may be familiar with this phrase, since it seems that there are always 2 updates left in Phase 1 [I just can't help myself from adding things!] Full disclosure: I first said this in January 2020, and there have been 9 updates since then π³
This time I mean it though. Honest! I've even already made the last scene of the game already! ππ
The February update [v0.3.4c] will feature Anna and Cole. These will be in the same 'conversation style' as the Fatima and Sam updates - but will each be a little shorter [you're less progressed down the romance routes with Anna and Cole, who are tougher characters to seduce]. I will also include a whole load of UI stuff like Wakthroughs π€
The update after that [v0.3.4d] will feature Cis. That will be a large one, similar in size to the Sam update, since you're already quite far along with her on both romance and friendship routes. Naturally, it will have both mf and mm routes in the flashbacks [yes, Felix fans, you'll get yours]. This will be the last Phase 1 update, and will also include the Season Finale sequence β which I have already made! π±βπ€
Anyway, that's probably enough for one Dev Diary... 1 Perversion Point for all of you who made it to the end! π If you'd like to volunteer any topics for the next Dev Diary, please feel free to do so in the comments below.
