Okay - I'm terrible at Dev Diaries. The last (and only!) one was December 29th and I've been giving information as snippets in posts and comments ever since... I still want to do a proper one talking about the various inspirations that went into the game and some of the philosophy and psychology behind it, but I thought I'd better do a 'Future Plans' one to make sure everyone's in the loop ๐
Phase 1:
Like all evil geniuses, I like to stroke cats, give away my intentions and divide my plans into phases. ๐ผ How else can one intone darkly 'Commence Phase 1'? ๐
Essentially, Phase 1 is the 'intro' sequence of the game. We're obviously quite far through that - perhaps 75% - and I reckon it will be completed in around 3 monthly updates unless I come up against any difficulties, or (more likely) get inspired to add in some extra content. ๐
I'm obviously not going to give away too many spoilers on content, but you will be seeing the new โ haircuts Sergeants+ have been voting on integrated into the game, meeting a few more Main cast characters to add to your Stable, and seeing some additional kinks and traits that I think you'll enjoy whatever your tastes. You'll also be seeing a couple of very major revelations about MC (HBO season finale style!) ๐ช๐๐ฝ๐คฐ๐ฑโโ๏ธ
And then? First up, I'll probably need about a month to go through the game with a fine-ass toothcomb, fixing any bugs, typos, bad dialogue and images I'm not 100% on; revamping the user interface, and incorporating any final suggestions from you guys. That will also give me the time to finish the walkthroughs and integrate them into the game, so you can just click an icon if you ever get stuck or want to check your 100% completion. (I realise that I've been promising the integrated walkthrough for ages... Sorry! ๐ณ Stupid time!)
Phase 2:
๐ฆนโโ๏ธ Muahaha! I'll be doing a proper post on this in a couple of months, but Phase 2 of the game is going to concentrate on the Stat-Building necessary to decide which Branch of SpaceCorps you'll enter. As an example, that means earning the Intelligence and Dexterity points to progress with FliteCorps training, or the Strength and Combat points to be eligible for the Forward Infantry.
Now - I realise stat-building in games often translates into grind. ๐ฒ NOT in SpaceCorps... never! Each point will be gained in unique-content scenarios; and stat-building will progress in tandem with the Main Storyline. I'll also be running regular Polls over the period to decide which Branch to concentrate on per update.
