Adaption Notes for Episode 17 ---The instance where Klein gave Mjölnir to Lisbeth and the talk about melting it has been omitted. ---The revelation that the real mastermind of the frost giants was Archduke Þjazi, instead of Thrym, was omitted. ---In the novel, Kirito stepped on Klein's foot, instead of kicking him in the face. ---The scene where Sinon tried to contain her laughter after teasing Kirito was omitted. ---Thor and the Æsir were not brought up in the conversation with Urðr. Adaption Notes for Episode 18 ---A lot of the dialogue in the log house was not part of the novel, including the reference to Kazuto working on a device for Yui to be able to experience the real world. ---The scene in the Dicey Cafe was not part of the novel. ---In this episode, Andrew mentioned that he had met his wife via an online game when she was still in America. However, in the 2005 web version interview, it was said that they had met each other because both of them were foreigners and they lived close to each other. ---The New Aincrad's 21st Floor boss in the anime looks different from its counterpart in the manga adaption. ---The pun about the nickname absolute sword (絶剣, Zekken?) sounding like a sportsman's number (ゼッケン, Zekken?) was omitted.

As mumbled as all that mythology was, many details were actually true to old Norse aesir myths, even though changed up and definitely not leading to the same conclusion as in ALO. * The world tree is the giant ash Yggdrasil, which contains the nine realms, of which Alfheim, the home of the light elves, Muspelheim the home of fire giants and Jotunheim the home of Jotuns/frost giants are all part. * Urd, Verdandi and Skuld existed and were guardians of fate and decided when each human should die and also guarded one of the 3 sources of water for the tree, which also doubled as “sun” (here, the lake which Thrymr frose with Excalibur to create the dungeon) * Ragnarök, the twilight of the gods and end of things was mentioned, but none of the events happened in ALO (fortunately) * Thrymr was a king/chieftain of the frost giants, did steal the hammer Mjölner from the gods and yes, the actual god of thunder Thor did dress up in drag and pretended to be the goddess of love Freja to get it back. It’s a pretty funny story I recommend reading actually No Tonkii though in Norse mythology. There’s a wolf that eats the sun and a snake that’s big enough to encircle the world though (I’m so bummed they didn’t include that in Thor: Ragnarök)
