As someone familiar with earlier versions of the song, I can say I think you did a wonderful job! I liked the 'I could tell you a tale' line particularly.

Thank you for sharing this glimpse of your process! That verse of Stevenson's lyrics really speaks to me as well. Your version is absolutely gorgeous, and speaks so powerfully of the grief that comes with times of transition: we lose parts of ourselves, but we're growing into who we're meant to be––this song captures all of that so beautifully.

I have never heard this song before but your version was great.

Very nice to wake to in New Zealand. I was in Skye just before the pandemic so its nice to reimagine travelling there again

For me, THIS is the real original version. The rest are lame covers.

Sorry Malinda. I already have a subscription to NordVPN. It's great for me.

Beautiful “Stevensoning” of the classic song (now “Malindaing,” eh?)! Nice to make it your own personal tale and, yes, it does invoke many images. I first heard the song in its original Bonnie Prince Charlie version as a preteen while touring Scotland, visiting family there in Anstruther on the north-east coast (and Loch Ness, where the real monsters are biting midges!). Later, back in England, I sang the hymn with the same tune. Now living in British Columbia, Canada, I can’t help but hum it while driving the Sea to Sky Highway! 😃

Lovely! I keep hoping you will release a CD of your singing. I want to be able to give it as gifts to people I know! PS: Christmas IS coming!

I only wish there was some way I could let you know the depths your art has kept my creativity alive, as well as simply given me joy and lifted gravity from my soul, allowing me to dance even when I feel crushed between grief and anxiety. Thank you for all of your hard work. It has made such a positive difference in my life, and I know I am far from the only one.
