Seriously one of the strongest points of Avatar is how well it expands the group, Toph and Zuko just fit right in. Countless video essays have said more on this than I can, but it still impresses me whenever I rewatch the series. Beautiful episode, visually and thematically, once again Zuko's redemption isn't an easy "i'm good now" that so many shows settle with, nah we're going in deep and exploring what it means to change your whole MO.

Aside from this episode being visually amazing, and seeing Aang and Zuko develop their relationship, my favorite part of this episode is the Dancing Dragon. In episode 2 of this book, we see that in the Fire Nation, dancing has been repressed. The whole episode centers around Aang showing children of the Fire Nation the joys of self expression through dance. Now we learn that the original way to firebend was literally a dance. It shows how deeply the Fire Nation has twisted the ways of firebending over the years. Some other stuff, the dragons Ran and Shaw mirror the ones we saw in Zuko's dream near the end of book 2, where Zuko was being talked to by a blue and a red dragon, with the voices of Azula and Iroh respectively. Also, we had not heard the ending music during an episode yet, so this was in fact the first time. I can't imagine that they planned this from the get go, but it's a cool detail to include.

Hey Mexican here. I haven't notice this but the calendar aligned with the sun reminds me of the "diablito" in Rumorosa Baja California. Just look it up "Diablito Baja California" on sun soltice you get an image of the devil inside a cave lighten up exactly to the devils eyes in every sun solstice.
