This is a greatly improved machine translation of the parts of Koikatsu that aren't yet manually translated. While these translations are not as good as hand-made translations and still have some very obvious issues, they are much better quality than the usual online translations. As a bonus these translations are entirely local, so no internet access is required.

The areas this improves the most are H scene subtitles and dating events (from AfterSchool expansion). You need to have KK_Subtitles installed to see subtitles in H scenes.

Thanks to STN for help figuring out what needed to be translated and to Anon11 for testing.

What's new?

v5 - Fixed options having "OPTION:" text at the start

v4 - Fixed choices having "CHOICE:" text at the start

v3 - Fixed freeze at end of wedding scene

v2 - Fixed character names being incorrectly shown as [name] or variations thereof in some events.

How to use?

  • This is included in HF Patch, you don't have to install this manually if you install the patch. Note: Make sure to turn on KK_Subtitles if you want to see translated subtitles in H scenes.
  • If you don't use HF Patch then make sure your game translations are up to date, and download the latest attached archive and extract it directly into your game directory. Remove the "BepInEx\Translation\en\RedirectedResources\assets\zzz_MachineTranslation_v1.zip" file if you have it, or you might still get outdated translations.

Notes

You can see what version of HF Patch you have by opening the game launcher and looking in the bottom right corner.

If you don't see subtitles in H scenes then you either don't have KK_Subtitles or it's disabled in plugin settings. If you don't have this plugin, either reinstall HF Patch and enable it on the "mods to install" list, or install it manually from here.

Do we need to unpack the ZIP file inside the nested assets folder, or is that unnecessary?

pr0dukt

Nah, no need. RR will index the textdata into memory right from the zip archive, for AT to pickup and parse into the game. just drop bepinex folder into game directory as is, and you're gtg..

Wow, the translations are so much better! Kudos!

Hello, would a French translation exist for the game? If so, how to activate it with the patch ?

ManlyMarco

Open game launcher and click the French flag to switch the language. Note that the translation quality is likely to be pretty bad since it'll use google translate.

Dylan

Alright thx so I'll wait for a better translation for now I will continue to play in English because in truth there are a lot of French people who would like to play the game but who do not understand English so suddenly he does not buy it where he does not dare to play it. i also go another question i saw that the dlcs you could only buy them on the official japanese website for download now if i buy the two japanese dlc after school and the other whose name i don't know anymore are they compatible with the Steam version? if so how to install them? and also can I install them when I have already installed your patch on my games? thank you in advance :)

Neko Chaos

I installed the patch and have kplug on it, so how do i update?

ManlyMarco

Yes, the two DLCs on DMM are compatible, check the guide linked in the patch release post for more info.

ManlyMarco

If you have HF Patch already then just download and extract the file attached to this post.

If these subtitles are saved client-side, where are they stored? And can they be edited/tweaked? PS. Thanks for all you do!

ManlyMarco

They are client side, it's just text files inside a zip archive, you can edit them with any text editor. Check the translation github repo for more details and latest translations.
