Half in the Bag: Vast of Night and Aquaslash

Stuck inside the VCR repair shop, Mike and Jay decide to talk about two movies they've seen recently on streaming services because movie theaters are still closed and Hollywood is burning.

I can’t believe you’re doing Aquaslash haha

Andy

Never heard of both of them, but i'm damn well gonna enjoy this - mike & jay time is precious time. Also, Aquaslash sounds like a refreshing citrus sport beverage.

Joshua Mannix

Good timing folks, was just wondering what to listen to at work.

Are you guys actually criticizing the covid crap or are you making fun of people who dont wear face masks in their car with the windows rolled up?

Manuel Johnen

Okay, "Aquaslash" actually looks really appealing... XD

"For some reason." What could it be? This is a mystery.

Aquaslash won me over with the Corey Hart song. When you are spending a big part of your budget licensing a Corey Hart song in 2019 then you are Canadian as fuck.

Phat94

Can't wait for the next big cinematic crossover, Aquaman vs Aquaslash, where Jason Momoa has to keep riding increasingly more deadly waterslides

Marvin Falz

I have canceled my Netflix a few weeks ago, nothing of interest there, but I ordered some DVDs and Blurays, like the TV two parter "David" (1997), because of Leonard Nimoy and Sheryl Lee, who's a pretty good character actress. She played a young woman, who was abused from early adolescence on, in a movie called "Love, Lies and Murder" (1991).

I hate simulated tinnitus, that's a trope that needs to die

My bf made me watch Vast of Night with him without knowing anything about it, and I was really surprised by how much I liked it. Now I think I'm going to make him watch Aquaslash with me, so thanks, guys.

Knut Farstad

HOW can you not have seen Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me? Best horror performance ever.

Rhea

I'm all about long takes and slow, atmosphere-building scenes so Vast of Night sounds right up my alley. I think that's the first time I've bothered to skip spoilers. Mike, can't wait to take your acting class.

So is Vast of Night like a Ponty Pool?

Katy

I’m loving the continuing cheery jack o lantern placements.

Mike St Louis

Mike. There is no Canadian accent. Everyone in Canada talks the same. Unless you’re in the maritimes.

I watched Vast of the Night last night and LOVE IT! I even loved the ending. I don't think I'll bother with Aquaslash.

James Fraser-Shelley

Mike's mention of Last Day's gave me flashbacks. I think Gus Van Sant was giving us the full Cobain Experience. Including wanting to kill yourself at the end.

I also watched Vast of Night on the recommendations of the review. Very much enjoyed it, particularly with insight regarding camera usage and long takes. Reminded me somewhat of the "Got a Light?" episode of the new Twin Peaks cycle. Also have no desire to see Aquaslash as I'm sure I'll enjoy the review more than the actual movie. This is why Mike and Jay make the big money.

Petition to review "Baby Frankenstein."

The Vast of Night is the best film I've seen since The Lighthouse.

I'm a new Patreon subscriber but a longtime yt subscriber. I drunkenly purchased this subscription. I do not think I will regret this purchase in the morning. Godspeed.

If it wasn't for this review, would have missed Vast of Night, loved it, thanks

I also bought my RLM patreon subscription whilst drunk! Three months later and I'm very happy with the decision.
