In the last couple episodes you asked if the match with Volg was a realistic portrayal. From what I understand everything shown and discussed is true to life but absolutely played up for drama and excitement. The author is very knowledgeable and loves the sport, but the anime will push it to the extreme so you have to suspend your disbelief a little bit.
