Would you buy physical artwork and merchandise? (Patreon)

One of the things I am wary about with digital media is how intangible it is. It really is great to look at an artwork in its physical form. And it looks like printers have really gone up in quality since I have owned one. The above artwork is stunning when printed.

I had thought I would like to make some limited screen prints, of a large format so that people can hang it on their walls. I think they would be some SFW images, as I am not sure who would openly display erotica for people to see. Mind you, I wouldn't mind doing large NSFW artwork, it could be a more artistic erotic work with possible collectible value. 

Or it would be great to make T-shirts, like the ones below. These would probably have a broader appeal than NSFW products!

Or perhaps, I am just thinking too much and I should focus on continuing to make great animation. What are your thoughts? Would posters, books, T-shirts or other merch interest you?

I think this would be great in future but firstly you need to build the brand and have recognisable mascots, for example the gaymer couple. If you perhaps build up a small group of recognisable faces and then when it came time for the artwork whether that be in t-shirt form or otherwise then I think more people would want to collect them as they'd be familiar and relate to them

I know that, for me, I'm not in a place in life where I can physically own such materials, regardless of how safe for work they are. That being said, if there were a piece in the future that was so masterfully crafted and was offered as a physical manifestation, then that might be different depending on where I'm at in life

You could look into society6 for hosting. They take a commission but handle the printing and shipping on anything from artwork on metal to pillow cases or mugs, and it might let you make additional income from smaller art like logos or things from your animations to help fund the bigger projects. There might even be a way through them to set up a few things you'd offer your art printed on and then if someone has an NSFW request, they might be able to work with you to get that scene pulled into a still frame to get printed

Difficult to answer. I have few times purchased a hand drawn art. But buying something printed - don't know. I use to be very selective and to buy it needs to be more than awesome :D I sometimes give gifts to my friends such as annual calendars but it needs 12 high quality pics and no-one will pay much to get calendar. T-shirts and other stuff might be different but again - I'm selective and difficult to please + anything smaller than XXL is kids size :P - but definitely it's not going to be small task to run a "gift shop". Let someone do it for you or don't do it.

sadly, some countries are prohibited NSFW merchandise like where i live... so... i think it's hard to deliver to such countries. of course, when deliver successed, it is hard to be uncovered.

Yeah I was recommended to a few sites similar to that, and I haven't seriously looked into them as of yet, since I wasn't sure if there would be any demand for such things. That would be a good option if I decide to do it though!

I am also realising also that maybe the market for limited prints might be very small. A lot of great points to consider :)
