Patreon's New Sales Tax Announcement! (Patreon)

Hello Community!

I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that starting July 1st, 2020 Patreon is required by law to start charging sales tax to pledges. From what I understand the sales tax will be charged based on the patron's location rather than my location. Patrons living in the EU already have been paying taxes on their pledges so they shouldn't see a change. Additional information can be found in the Article.

A reminder that the new sales tax rule applies on July 1st. After doing some more research on the topic I have found that Patreon Content Creators have the ability to disclose the intention of each of their tiers as a way to minimize the sales tax on patrons. I have set all of the tiers to "General Support". In some areas, general support is similar to generous donations and isn't taxable.  I'm doing my best to make sure ya have to pay the minimum sales tax.
