 **DEFINITELY THERE HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This battle is getting more and more intense, as Rin lets loose and Barou decides to barrel through the competition! Meanwhile, Bachira is questioning his ego and WHY he's playing soccer...will him finding an answer get the final goal for his team they need to win the game? Or will those answers come too late?

The discussion was all over the place this episode, so bear with me, but WHAT a match this has been so far! And we aren't to the climax yet!

Rin is too good. The puppet imagery was perfect. The Bachira part is sad but also a tiny bit funny for me. it starts like a normal ntr story with Bachira found a new partner, and now the ex boyfriend and the new boyfriend run away together lol

Great reaction and discussion! Rin's last name "Itoshi" means "thread master." Since his name "Rin" means "cold" and "dignified," his full name can mean "cold/dignified puppet master." It's so cool to see Rin's puppeteering playstyle. It reminds me of when Oikawa (and the setter position in general) was compared to an orchestra conductor! When you said that Rin pushes his teammates to their limits, it made me think of when Kageyama forced Tsukishima to jump higher when spiking in s4. So if I had to make HQ setter comparisons, Rin = Kageyama. Besides pushing his teammates to their limits, in ep 19 when Rin was noted for his versatility and how he didn't need others to create chemical reactions, it reminded me of how Kageyama is a very versatile player and in Haikyuu ep 2 Kageyama said "I'd rather receive, set, and spike all by myself" lol. Also in ep 2, Kageyama saying "the setter is the team's control tower" is kinda like Rin being the puppet master controlling the marionettes. Going on even more of a tangent, I like how Rin's putting on a puppet show, which kinda ties in with the theater extended metaphor that we had with Barou being the lead of the stage and the stuff about supporting actors. Reo = Suga (for Asahi) or Shirabu (for Ushijima) since in ep 14, Nagi described Reo’s passes as a "do whatever" pass, which gives Nagi comfort and freedom. The passes are consistent and textbook. Bachira's passes are electrifying and creative. So maybe Atsumu? I love how Barou stole the show from the shadows. I think this really highlights his new playstyle as the villain king or King of the Heels, as named by Nagi. Before his awakening, Barou wanted to be the center of attention all the time and have his useless teammates pass to him. Now he's being patient and deceptive and actively using his teammates, such as using them as decoys or stealing the ball from them. Love that Barou is the lion, king of the jungle. Barou's pose after scoring was so sick. You mentioned that Barou was drawn amazingly this episode. Barou is the manga illustrator Nomura's favorite character (as stated in an interview), so there might be some favoritism there haha.

I LOVE the puppet imagery in this! But yeah, Bachira trying to pick between two monsters...and the monsters end up running away together instead? That is BRUTAL! Thank you for the comment!

Thank you for the kind words and comment! Ooohhh, I LOVE that name meaning tying to a cold/dignified puppet master - it’s so fitting! It makes me curious if Sae is going to be the “warm” equivalent to that, but I’ll talk about it in a future discussion and we’ll cross that bridge as we come to it! I love, of COURSE, the comparison to Oikawa – and yesss, Kageyama as well! That reference makes total sense, too – but then, I can also see Isagi “pushing” his teammates to evolve so he can devour them as well, so he fits that analogy too. I’m going to make some analogies of Rin and Isagi next episode, so I’ll save this conversation for Episode 23, but you have my brain CHURNING with examples, here! 😀 I would actually say Rin is more Oikawa, and Isagi is more Kageyama…but you make some good points. I don’t view Kageyama as a puppet master but as an emperor/king, which ties to Barou and him being the lead/supporting crew, moreso than Rin. Again, I’ll talk about this more in Episode 23 when I get to it. Oooh, Reo is not supportive enough to be Suga for me or personality-wise equivalent; I could see Shirabu, though! Especially if you were going to compare Nagi to Ushijima. Atsumu is the setter of “love,” so….Bachira might fit him, but I don’t see Bachira as a setter, he’s more a Libero like Nishinoya for me. ;) I like how Blue Lock isn’t a perfect comparison to HQ as well – there are similarities, there, but not totally. It lets it stand on its own, which is nice. I love Barou stealing the show, too! And that was all in Isagi’s plans, even if he didn’t fully realize it, which I love. The Lion motif fits him PERFECTLY! Though now I have instead of the Lion and the Mouse, the Lion and the….shrimp, if we’re looking at Isagi, haha!! And oooh, that makes sense with Nomura loving him…I can see that! 😀Thank you for the kind words and comment! SO excited for the rest of this season!
