Isagi, how he goes from being a sweet little bean to literally a BOSS in a matter of minutes is CRAZY! This episode, I love how he turns the tables on Barou, who's NOT cooperating and the themes of this episode were just LOVELY!   

Now...are they going to be able to win? Especially against an evolving Chigiri? I guess we'll have to see, eh?

Loved the reaction & discussion! This was such an excellent episode and one of my favourite matches, the poses and animation work so well to show the progress of some of the players and the stagnation of others. Barou is really being put through the wringer, poor thing. I actually think I need to retire the Most Complicated Relationship designation being Romania vs Raichi – I mean, the excitement of seeing that additional time says it all. I have absolutely loved witnessing your Raichi journey! 😂 Looking forward to next week! 💙

Great reaction and discussion! I apologize that my previous comment(s) came off as trying to push you to think a certain way. Oftentimes whenever I use ship names, I simply use it as a shorthand for a pair of characters, rather than as a ship in a romantic sense. It’s a habit of mine. I could instead fully write out the character names if you’d prefer that. In my comments, I’ve mostly rambled about random things I personally noticed, and I’m not expecting anything in return, so I apologize again. I'll try to tone it down. To answer your question about the timeline of events, when Isagi arrived at Blue Lock, he was wearing a scarf so it's in the colder months, and apparently the day the players moved into the Blue Lock facility was November 20, 2018 which is a few months after the real life event of the 2018 World Cup which finished in July 2018 (Fun fact: a month after the WC, the Blue Lock manga started serialization on August 1, 2018, which is Yaoi Day). And it’s been about a month since Isagi and them arrived at Blue Lock. I searched online and found that Japanese high school’s winter breaks usually are from Dec 26 to Jan 6, so yeah it looks like the Blue Lockers are missing out on some of their education. And Ego probably doesn’t care since it’s not related to soccer lol. The Blue Lock players are not all third years, they range from 15-18 years old, and the average is 17 years old. I can provide you a list of the characters’ ages and grade years after you finish season 1. I loved hearing the Barousagi-Kagehina comparisons. When Isagi used Barou as a decoy, it reminded me a little of Kageyama using Hinata as a decoy, which is a reversal from the comparisons you talked about in the video haha. In terms of personality/character, like you said, Barou is a loner king like early series Kageyama and Isagi’s kinda a sunshine like Hinata, but in terms of playstyle, Isagi’s use of spatial awareness reminds me of Kageyama, and Barou’s physical athletic ability reminds me of Hinata. I think ep 3 (where everyone was sabotaging each other) and Barou in this ep were the most frustrating for me to watch but they’re still enjoyable ofc. And your reaction and analysis of the characters and messages made it a lot more fun and interesting! I definitely felt for Barou (and all of Barou’s facial expressions) and how he doesn’t want to bend to Isagi’s will, but at the same time, it was so satisfying to see Isagi being a menace and trying to devour and use Barou instead of trying to "fix"/change Barou. It’s cool to see the contrast of Barou being stubborn and saying he’d rather lose than change his rule, and Isagi trying anything he can in order to win and constantly overwriting his past perceptions. Isagi calling Barou a donkey reminded of when Isagi called Rin lukewarm. Isagi’s really “devouring” these insults and spitting it back at them lol. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only person who noticed the connection of Chigiri calling it a “battlefield.” My “soccer Akiangel” ship is thriving lol. I was also happy to learn that they have good zodiac compatibility when you talked about compatibilities a few reactions ago. Chigiri evolving at the end of the ep is the first time in the show, other than in the OPs, where we see Chigiri with the pink aura! He’s had the generic blue aura, and it was so cool to see the blue transform into pink. It reminded me of Isagi gaining his distinct lime green aura in ep 11. The subtitles didn’t do a great job of translating Nagi saying “itadakimasu” (which means “I humbly receive” and is often said before eating a meal) after receiving the pass from Isagi (and then scoring). The subs translated it as “Thanks for this,” but I would’ve preferred “Thank you for the food.” I think it’s cute and funny how Nagi is casually connecting daily life and food to soccer, while others are being super serious and dramatic about the match. Like, I love Reo, but some of the things he said this episode made me cringe lol. I’m kinda living for this one-sided drama though. I do really love the part where Isagi acknowledged that Reo had flawless, perfectly balanced stats. I love the all-rounder archetype in general. I think it’s really impressive, especially for someone who just started playing soccer 6 months ago. I saw someone compare Reo’s hexagon stat graph to Osamu’s from Haikyuu!

No worries – I will forewarn, I was mostly joking, but there’s been a lot of Rin fan art and shipping in the Discord, so I wanted to joke that I was being spoiled on Rin’s character with that and some of the commentary in the comments about his motivations – I wasn’t really upset and mainly joking, but watching Episode 18’s intro, I realize it may have come off more seriously than I intended, so apologies! I don’t want to sound ungrateful! >.< You are fine! Oohhh, thank you so much about that timeline and the note on ages! That really does help! I’ll have to make note – also, it starting on Yaoi Day is hilarious!! I MEAN. I MEANNNN. But yeah, Ego probably doesn’t care about them missing out on school. What a man. Yesss, the KageHina and BarouSagi comparisons are so there! I like the contrast you pointed out! 🙂Their abilities also “switch” too, which is fun! And Isagi deciding to not “fix” Barou but meet him on his level is SO satisfying! Him being “rough” is so fun to watch, as well! And yesssss, Isagi not getting put down by insults but just spitting them right back out! I LOVE IT! Chigiri a ship with Rin? The color combination could be interesting so we’ll see on that! I do love Chigiri evolving and having the pink aura – it’s so pretty and ties to a cherry blossom theme with them, maybe? Awww, that is adorable that Nagi associates getting the soccer ball like receiving a meal! That’s adorable! And OMG – Reo’s hatred of Isagi is SO one-sided. Reo has created a telenovela subplot in his mind when no one else is on the same channel! And yes, Isagi is still such a nice person to acknowledge that Reo is well-balanced! It makes me feel bad for underestimating him in this match and if the other team would choose him! *sweats* But yes, VERY impressive for someone that just started!
