**FUSED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This episode was a LOT more than I bargained for with the aftermath of Isagi and Nagi's first win and gathering of Barou -- but guess who stepped up to face them for their next challenge?! Old teammates and apparently old flames, too!

Meanwhile, Ego and Anri are still trying to sell Blue Lock to the big wigs - I honestly have NO IDEA how this is going to end up but I am EXCITED!

LMAO THE DAIYA AD, love it. I feel you with liking these kinds of episodes over the action-packed soccer episodes. The character interactions in this ep were so good! It’s great that you liked Barou earlier on. This was the episode where I started liking Barou. It reminded me of Levi, how Barou is presented as this powerful, intimidating figure who we then learn that he’s a clean freak, which makes him a more interesting and endearing character. Then we get the image of maid Barou thanks to Nagi lol. Similar to how Reo pampers Nagi, I like the ship potential of Barou cleaning up after Nagi, and I love their banter and how they don’t get along haha. It’s funny how a few episodes ago you talked about how their zodiac signs are really compatible. About the “Mr. Hassle Man” nickname, the word “hassle” used here in Japanese is “mendokusai,” which is Nagi’s catchphrase which means “troublesome” or “bothersome.” The subtitles translate it in a variety of ways such as “pain,” “bother,” “hassle,” “annoying,” etc., so the catchphrase may not be as obvious. I love Ego’s speech about geniuses, it ties in with last ep and later in the ep when Isagi called Barou a “wasteful genius.” Ego saying he’s *dedicating his life* to creating a genius in Blue Lock, he’s just as dramatic and serious as Rin. This contrasts Anri in episode 2 saying that Japan winning the World Cup is her *dream,* similar to Isagi (and the other BLLK players) saying that becoming the best striker in the world is their dream. And we had the whole dream/career vs life/existence conversation in ep 13. What an interesting Egoanri and Rinsagi parallel haha. Based on Barou and Isagi’s interaction in ep 8, I consider Barou to be malicious with his words, especially when he said to Isagi, “I just made you realize that I’m on the field. That’s more than enough to make a brain-dead donkey like you quit out of despair.” Isagi reacted to that by cheerfully thanking Barou for training with him, but regardless, I still think that Barou’s words were really mean and brutal there. Loved your reaction and commentary on the Barousagi cafeteria scene and the bath scene. Isagi: “I want to create a chemical reaction with you.” Sounds like a love confession to me lol. Blue Lock is giving us all the shipping material with the concept of chemical reactions 😂 Isagi telling Barou “With me, your talents can shine brighter” kind of reminds me of a combination of Kageyama’s lines “As long as I'm here, you're invincible” and “You can fly even higher.” It’s cool how Isagi sees the talent in Barou and wants to bring it out, which is similar to Ego with the BLLK players in a way hmm. During the Isagi and Kunigami recapping convo, when Kunigami said, “you stole Barou, condemning Naruhaya,” I was a little startled by the word choice “condemn.” I think it really ties to OP 2 title “Judgement” and chorus “Choose judgement,” which is fitting for the 2nd Selection about choosing people and enacting judgment. Condemn is a harsh way of putting it, but it's pretty true, they basically sentenced Naruhaya to death (elimination) by choosing Barou 😭 I really love the rules of the 2nd Selection, giving the players the power to spare and condemn other players. Before this ep, I was hoping for a reunion in the cafeteria or bathroom (like Hinata with his opponents), but this is even better lol. Nagi being such a troll with his ninjutsu underwater and annoying Barou lol. Yeah, Nagi looked so happy to see Reo and excited to talk about his progress. This wasn’t the reunion Nagi was expecting 😭 When Nagi went for the high-five, I love how the camera cuts away so we just hear the slap sound and it kinda sounds like Reo slapped Nagi’s face when in reality, he slapped away Nagi’s hand. Nagi must’ve been shocked, but I really wish Nagi attempted to communicate with Reo and clear up the misunderstanding. Reo just declared them as rivals or enemies and Nagi stayed silent and that was the end of the conversation. Btw, Reo here reminds me of Geto in the shower scene and Eren post-timeskip. I wasn't surprised and fully expected Chigiri and Kunigami to want to choose Nagi, like how Naruhaya wanted Nagi, not Isagi. They saw how overwhelmingly powerful and gifted Nagi was in the Team Z vs V match. Ego said at the beginning of the 2nd selection that the Rivalry Battle is about stealing friends or rivals. So I guess Kuni and Chigiri want to steal a rival (Nagi) over their friend (Isagi) because of Nagi’s skill and potential which contrasts Nagi wanting to steal Reo (a friend) “because of their promise." Kuni, Chigiri, Isagi, and Barou were more logical about their choices, while Reo and Nagi’s choices were personal. Bachira mentioning Rin’s goal to surpass his brother and then telling Rin, “I’ve never seen anyone look as blue as you while playing soccer” made me think of how in ep 12 Bachira told Nagi that Reo looked a little sad after Nagi left him. I love how observant Bachira is and how he’s willing to talk about feelings, especially in this cutthroat environment. Before this ep, I just thought Rin looked serious, annoyed, or bored all the time, so I was surprised to hear Bachira say this. Then I went back to the previous episodes and in some scenes, the way Rin’s eyes and eyebrows are drawn or positioned do make him look sad, which I hadn’t noticed before. I like the parallel between Barou training and then Isagi and Nagi joining, and Rin training and Bachira wanting to join. This ep really highlights Barou’s and Rin’s diligence—Barou having this strict training regimen and Rin training while the others are in the cafeteria eating. Also, the Rin and Bachira scene reminded me of ep 2 when Isagi couldn’t sleep and went to the soccer field to train by himself and then Bachira joined him. I think there’s an interesting spectrum in how Isagi, Barou, and Rin reacted to others wanting to join their training. Isagi welcomed company, Barou was indifferent, and Rin wanted to be left alone.

Oh, thank you! The Daiya ad was so fun to record! Barou is like Levi in being a clean freak, but he’s waaaaaaay more arrogant than Levi, but I CAN see that vulnerability underneath. And oh YEAH! Nagi and Barou DO have compatible signs; interesting! 😀 Ahhh, that’s good to note about the Hassle Man translation! Ego is really good at giving powerful monologues! Ahhh, I definitely saw the comparison of Ego and Rin, but that is interesting about Anri and Isagi’s comparison as well. I also see the Ego comparisons with Isagi, too, so fun times! But *sigh* You all should know, the more you try to make me ship Rin and Isagi or like Rin, the less I will, so…take that what you will. #letmedevelopmyfeelingsforRinonmyown hahaha! Barou was definitely brutal, but I like Isagi’s “kill with kindness” approach. 🙂 And yes, choosing Barou is basically condemning the other person to the loss - definitely a harsh wording but it makes sense for Blue Lock! I also feel SO badly for Nagi, who was expecting a happy reunion, only for Reo to be all yandere and jaded, haha!! I agree, though, I feel Nagi should have said he “missed” Reo and Reo would have probably gone all puppy-eyed! But Nagi is so oblivious! Reo resembles Geto and Eren in that he has completely become absorbed in despair…we just need him to call Nagi a “monkey” and start mumbling “tatakae” at this point! ;) Bachira is definitely observant! I hope he melts Rin’s icy heart, though. Also like the parallel of Barou and Rin getting others to join in the training; Isagi also had that happened when he stayed and trained during the first selection with Team Z. Like you said with Ep 2 (I’m reading your note of that after I typed, haha!). Thanks for the kind words and comment! Excited for the next episode!
