If I were Nagi I would've throw hands when Isagi told me to shut up lol. Nagi is carrying so hard his back gonna break, doing every offense and defense, and you disrespect him like that? Also I love the "AI goalie is rigged" part, maybe the blue lock man just hate Naruhaya lol

Loved the reactions and discussions for this little Naruhaya arc! It’s sometimes difficult to tell whether someone likes a protagonist vs just liking the story that’s being told from their POV – but a real warmth and protectiveness towards Isagi came across these last few episodes. It’s been really nice watching the progression of your opinion for all these characters - there are a lot of colourful personalities. 😂 I always wondered what it’d be like if we had had the chance to glimpse some of Naruhaya’s story before these episodes. It's obviously tough to imagine where it would fit, but it is one of those narrative-conflicts I enjoy thinking about: what would have been more interesting to you? Having this surprise-factor of his heel-turn vs having the context of his background while watching him lose. Loved seeing his family though, they seemed really sweet. Looking forward to next week! 💙

This is probably the BLLK reaction/discussion of yours I’ve laughed and had fun the most watching! Loved all the KNB, HQ, and Daiya comparisons as always and the diagram of the heights was fun. When Isagi was thinking deeply about the previous plays of the match and comparing his skillset to Naruhaya’s, I wasn’t worried at all about Isagi overthinking it or being regretful or self-deprecating. I thought he was reflecting and objectively analyzing the situation and trying to problem solve. But I always overthink everything, so I can’t say anything. I do really appreciate your concern for Isagi though. The imagery of Isagi putting the (puzzle) pieces together is always hype. I love the part where Isagi was shown deep in thought, standing on water, repeating the words “Blind spot. Off the ball.” It reminded me of s1 of Demon Slayer when Giyuu used Water Breathing, 11th Form: Dead Calm. I liked how Isagi remembered Rin telling him to find a book about how the human eye works. Rin’s backhanded “advice” came in clutch lol. I admire Isagi so much for being so willing to tear himself down and change in order to win, “being reborn and reborn again.” It’s like Inarizaki’s motto “We don’t need the memories.” I love the baby pink aura Nagi had in this and last episode when he was trapping and juggling the ball, and the accompanying magical, glittery sound effects made me think of a fairy. To make JJK comparisons, Nagi using his “black hole takedown” trapping move reminded me of Gojo’s galactical motif with his domain expansion Infinite Void and also Hollow Purple which is a black hole. Hollow purple. Reo = purple. I’m getting somewhere! Also, in this ep, Nagi calling himself the “god of this field” reminded me a bit of Gojo’s eureka moment in the flashback arc. What’s funny about Nagi and Barou facing each other, it’s Mahito’s and Sukuna’s VAs. How chaotic lol. Barou being an individually really strong player but losing because of his mediocre team (like in Team X, the 3v3, and now the 2v2) reminds of the king in Haikyuu, Kageyama, who was extremely talented but had no results to show in his middle school tournaments because of his self-centeredness. What’s funny is that in your ep 12 discussion I think you predicted the 2nd selection to test their individual skills and predicted Barou to breeze through the 2nd selection, and I love that the story subverts that and doesn’t reward Barou for his arrogance, and highlights the importance of choosing good teammates to start the 2nd selection like you talked about before. Barou was the last person I expected to lose and go down to the 2v2 stage. I was attached to Naruhaya because of his dynamic with Gagamaru, but the second Naruhaya appeared in the last episode, I was filled with despair and the death flags just kept coming 😭 It was an emotional episode. I’ve got nothing but respect for Naruhaya’s motivations, actions, and how he handled that loss when he talked to Isagi after the match. Naruhaya’s lines “There are some dreams that don’t come true.” and (telling Isagi) “Keep winning until the day you die.” gave me chills. Naruhaya’s life isn’t over, life goes on, Naruhaya just accepted the death of that dream. Also, I noticed that in Naruhaya’s backstory, he was wearing a jersey with the number 11 like Isagi! Chigiri and Kunigami really picked up Reo like a sad stray cat. I like the detail of Kunigami squatting down to be at Reo's eye level. So happy about this team up, they share the similarity of being left behind and have sunset hair colors! The Additional Times for this and last episode were so great in the humor and character interactions departments. I was dying laughing during the yandere Reo, “a maiden in love,” scene and Chigiri and Kunigami sorta being his emotional support.

Yesss, I told my brother that you need to keep watching Blue Lock if you're hesitant with their personalities at first, because they really start to warm up and I love it! :) I like the surprise of seeing his backstory here after the heel turn to give it all more context -- the sad thing is, in any other sports anime, Naruhaya could have very well been the protagonist, too...but sadly *300-style Leonitus voice* THIS IS BLUE LOCK! *kicks Naruhaya into pit* Definitely excited for next week as well! Thank you for the comment!

Oh thank you!! I really appreciate how much you enjoyed this one – this was a fun episode to react to! 😀 I overthink a LOT, so Isagi was concerning for me because I can see a lot of myself in him and want to protect him from the plot! And that comparison to Demon Slayer is really cool, too! Nagi having this glittery “fairy” aura around him really makes sense! But then he has that Gojo moment! Hahaha and Hollow Purple is SO Reo right now. If Nagi is a fairy, Reo is a demon. And the connection to the JJK VA’s…dear lord, hahaha! That’s also a great comparison to Kageyama with Barou as well! And yessss, getting the realization that Barou’s arrogance is not going to let him slide through is really neat! I’ll have to talk about that with Episode 17! The Naruhaya death flags were EVERYWHERE! And we still don’t know Gin’s fate, so….what if Naruhaya sees Gin on the streets and realizes he didn’t make it past?! Not knowing who else from Team Z made it or didn’t past stage 1 of the 2nd selection is nerve-wracking! And that Jersey…OOF. Reo is SO cat-coded and a stray that Chigiri and Kunigami picked up. I love Kunigami being very brotherly with Reo, too! They’re like a bunch of starburst, they’re just missing Bachira to be the yellow one and Nagi to be the “pink” one with his glitter aura. ;) And YANDERE REO is here…oof indeed! Thank you for the comment and kind words! Excited for this coming week!
