I did not expect an episode this amazing to come this late in the messy production schedule, but this episode was definitely one of my favorites of this arc! A few things that I noticed: 1) The op actually changed, and you’ll see that the shot of Tokyo now has a big hole where Shibuya is/was. Also, the group shot at the end is gone because most of them are dead/injured/MIA and there are only wrecked buildings instead. 2) In Todo’s crazy “MHA”-esque Black Flash sequence, he goes through a bunch of flashbacks, and when you slow it down it includes: Yuji in the Kyoto classroom learning with the other students, Yuji and Todo in the rain, a shot of a bunch of bikini-clad asses, Yuji and Todo in front of a fence like boy band members, Takada-chan posing, and lastly Takada-chan shooting Todo in the head, which then cuts to red? Implying Todo died in this fantasy idk

I was sad the last two episodes but I actually started tearing up at Yuji's breakdown but I’m also emotional so lol Yuji is just a child, he even went into fetal position, this is literally the worst night of his life ;-; Gege (almost for every episode, sometimes every two episodes) he draws some artwork in celebration for the episodes airing, and for the last two he drew Mahito dancing happily with his double T-T that’s just foul haha, oh and anyone with cursed energy can hit a black flash, it’s not something someone 'has', in season 1 it’s explained by Nanami and Todo. Some already commented it but yeah rewatch the opening for this episode again, towards the later half of the opening it changes, specifically for the shot of the city and the last shot of the group before it ends with Yuji and looking through the images before Todo lands a Black Flash, there is some really cute imagery and funny ones, we can even see Yuki in one of them. Im Todo's entrance, he recited a poem (don’t remember where it’s from or what its name is) but it basically means that everything will eventually come to an end but then he adds on something not part of the poem, “we are the exception”, referring to Jujutsu Sorcerers and his speech later on to Yuji, Jujutsu Sorcerers may fall but they won’t end, and will continue moving forward because they must, “that’s the one punishment we must endure”, or everything they’re fighting for would be for nothing. That’s my interpretation personally xD I like how they depicted visually that Yuji's resolve started breaking since being defeated by Choso and up until now he tried to push forward, push these feelings down, he can’t even grief properly, and Nobara’s death was just the thing that made these emotions come spilling out, no longer able to push through, it’s actually impressive how Yuji even managed to continue fighting in the first place, a testament to his will. Only three episodes left, that’s stressful lol Excited for next week, great discussion ^^

Fascinating discussion as always Romania! The comments from others are great too but one thing I'm wondering after all the BROTHER this episode is if Choso still has any part to play in the season? With him mentally in the mud he might just stay in his solitude confused but if things get worse for Yuji (As if anything will go nicely for him in Shibuya..) Choso could be the figure coming to help as brother number 2. A big part of me wants that to happen since I find Choso and the cursed wombs so interesting (especially if Yuji is confirmed to actually be one like we've theorized) but there's also a big part of me worried he could get killed as another victim of Shibuya. Sukana has not used the pact he secured all the way back in season 1. The wording of it unnerves me since IIRC it is he can not harm a human. Hopefully that applies to Choso too but I'm terribly worried a cursed womb would be classified as something else. Yuji's already endured so much I don't think he could take being saved then watching Sukana kill them in a taunting manner. I hope it's just overly pessimistic thinking.

Thanks for the reaction Romania. I feel like you were always on top of catching onto the latent themes of this arc early on, like the whole "You are me" thing, and it was great to hear the discussion after the narrative made them more explicit. Fantastic cosplay as well. Here's a fun fact. As you may have seen in other comments, the line starting from "The bells of Gion shrine" that Todo recites when he makes his entrance are the opening lines of the Tales of Heike, a Japanese literary classic that chronicles the fall of the Heike samurai clan. This isn't interesting in itself, but there's an easter egg hidden around the 21:43 mark as Todo goes cosmic for his black flash. During that sequence, you see a series of blink and you miss it flashbacks to Todo's past. Some of them are real and seen in season 1 (like the scene where he meets his mentor), but there's also some that look like extensions of the fantasy flashback Todo invented for himself. In one of them, Yuji is seen in a classroom with the Kyoto students with Utahime before a blackboard teaching the Tale of Heike (obviously, Yuji never went to Kyoto and isn't even the same grade as Todo so this is geographically and temporally impossible). This seems to imply Todo didn't just quote ancient literature to show off his genius level IQ, but that he believes he's making a reference Yuji would get about an (imaginary) class they took together. I guess its part of Todo's charm that you don't really know when he's being witty and when he's just totally delulu.

Ahhh, thank you for the kind words and comment! I really appreciate it; loving y’all are digging the cosplay and discussion! I want to talk about the “flashes” of imagery with Toji’s “past” that he’s fabricated with Yuuji in them like Season 1, we gotta love his delusion, but that’s so cool to note about the poem, too! Thank you for that information! I appreciate it!
