This episodes is one of my FAVORITES! I absolutely loved the energy, the twists, the backstory, the SHIPPABLE MOMENTS, and the sheer HYPE of this match....

Amazing reaction and discussion! You covered almost everything I wanted to say about this ep haha, so this comment will be a little shorter. Raichi’s moment this ep was so fantastic and motivating! Him yelling “You’re strikers, aren’t you?!” always sends a chill down my spine. Kuon was a rollercoaster this ep. It’s interesting to see how his rationalized thought process contradicts his feelings which leads to him fouling Nagi and throwing away his original plan. I enjoyed hearing your analysis and interpretation of Kuon’s character and parallels to Isagi. The REONAGI WAS INSANE this episode. I loved the “Am I… Are Nagi and I losing?” part too. Before Reo met Nagi, Reo probably was used to only being concerned about himself due to his upbringing, so I love that we see him default to almost saying “Am I about to lose?” but then corrects himself and remembers that it’s not just about himself anymore, he’s fighting for the both of them 🥺 Nagi saw Reo was in trouble, and his body moved on his own to rescue him, and then later we see Reo’s anger and concern after Kuon tackles Nagi. I just love how protective Nagi and Reo are of each other! I like that Lemon got his chance to shine and this scene further emphasized the egoist ideology of Blue Lock. For the free kick, Lemon successfully predicted that Reo would shoot for the goal rather than pass and rely on Nagi or Zantetsu. I can agree Reo, Nagi, and Zantetsu are being a bit too dramatic and intense about winning this game since Team V is guaranteed to pass the First Selection regardless of the outcome of this match. But I actually respect them for not taking it lightly and for giving it their all even if they don’t need to. I think they do know they’re guaranteed to pass, but it’s more about their pride of having a spotless record, like Reo said in the previous episode about how Reo doesn’t want a stain on his and Nagi’s perfect record since they started playing soccer 6 months ago. Even Zantetsu said this ep that tying versus a team like this would effectively be the same as losing. I love that Reo, Nagi, and Zantetsu won’t just settle for just surviving, they want to crush their opponents. Hm I feel like in other sports anime, this is portrayed as a bad, unsportsmanlike mindset like how in KNB Teiko and Akashi emphasize complete victory. I think the main difference is in KNB, sometimes a superior team toys with the inferior team and it’s to the detriment to both team’s mental health and creates a toxic environment. But in this Team Z vs Team V, for me, I personally feel that Reo, Nagi, and Zantetsu’s determination and pride is almost as inspiring as Team Z’s desperation and perseverance to survive.

Ahhh, thank you for the kind words and comment! 🙂 Raichi giving the motivational speech was AMAZING in this! I really have come around to him, and Kuon is next, apparently! The REONAGI – I just absolutely love them. I love that he includes Nagi, it’s so wonderful to see both of them realize that they are going to move beyond this loss, maybe together! Or not, but for one another, in any case! I agree, I do admire that Team V is still treating Team Z with respect. Lemon getting to shine was wonderful! I really love his character, despite his lack of screen time. I can see exactly what you mean with other sports anime considering it too much – I could take it was more like what Kuroko was wanting with the other team to play at its full capacity and not take it easy on the other team, but yeah, KNB doesn’t like the extreme whereas Blue Lock sort of embraces it for what it is, and that’s interesting to me, too!
