I love how you pointed the philosophical/deep discussions of this episode ! That's one of the things I loved the most about Jujutsu Kaisen when I first watched/read it. There were already a surprising amount of them in the first season (which is also why it was clear almost from episode 1 that JJK was never going to be your typical shonen), and the fact that not only were they passionating AF in themself in the first season, but the fact that most of them get brought back later... uhhrrr it's just so well written. The return and extension of Mahito's discussion about the soul, the opposition in philosophies between all the curses... We already saw it in season 1 : - Jogou thinks that humans are "false" and cursed spirits are truer because there isn't any hidden meaning between their negative emotions. - Hanami (rip) seemed to care a lot about the earth and the plants, claiming to want to kill humans to save nature. However after being confronted about it by Mahito Hanami also realized they liked the thrill of battle. - Mahito get his philosophy/way of viewing the world from the insight his technique gives. Since the "soul" for him is nothing special, nothing more fundamental than the body, he views human lives as nothing special too. Therefore he just believes in acting upon his desires and pulsions, he believes that his behavior is coherent as long as he does what he wishes. Here seeing all these different views come back and conflict was really cool, and let's be real, at this point we NEED a bit less cohesion in the villain's side because otherwise our poor guys are fucked... I mean imagine if they all just stayed to guard the prison realm on the bottom of Shibuya ??? Imagine having to fight Choso, Mahito, Jogou AND Brain-kun *at the same time...* But maybe I'm just too pessimistic, maybe then the sorcerer's would've all been able to coordinate their attack too. Either way, the situation is complex and dire !

Uuhhhrrr you PERFECTLY understood the insane value of the Yuji vs Transfigured humans scene. It's all in the "show don't tell" as you said yourself, and the amount it shows despite being such a short (and perhaps seemingly inconsequential) detail is insane. It shows that Yuji still cares and struggles with killing transfigured humans, but his motivation is remembering that one transfigured children in season 1 asking him to "kill me please" (not sure why they didn't re-use the season 1 shot here, it makes it less clear). Basically he knows that there are more important things at stakes here and that he can't *allow* himself to hesitate in this moment. And again you perfectly highlighted how the fact that this scene doesn't make a big show of it increases the overall narrative and storytelling even more. As for our dear friend Kokichi Muta, he basically made a "pact" with himself to create/initiate these little puppets. However since in the JJK world you can't just have things "freely", for such a very very strong insurance/pact to work (creating these puppets from nothing and including somewhat of his soul/personality inside), the condition MUST be extremely strong and restrictive too, and in the present situation, "Gojou being sealed" is indeed a condition that is very unlikely to ever happen, thus allowing for such a strong pact/binding vow. (not a spoil, we won't have more explicitations than that, it just was a bit fast and fuzzy in the anime for the explanation).

Thank you for the kind words and comment! I definitely can see how Gege’s been influenced by Neon Genesis in incorporating philosophical debates into this battle shonen! 😛 But yes, the writing is great throughout! That’s a great way of breaking down all their views, so thanks for that! And yes, splitting up seems the best way for our guys otherwise, it would be a NIGHTMARE! Agreed! I’m definitely concerned for the battles to come!

Ahhh, thank you for the kind words and comment! Yuuji just has my heart with his growth and heart as a character! I appreciate the kind sentiments; Gege just writes our MC as such a good character! That’s a great way to explain the puppets and Muta, so I appreciate it! Thanks so much for all the comments! Excited for tonight’s episode! 😀
