I just love the character of Gabi. Her character development in just one season is so cool.

Yessss, I never had an issue with Gabi's character in the anime, but the manga has made me appreciate it even more! :) Thank you for the comment!

I had never really thought of Gabi as that more social, we see her being quite abrasive and, as with Falco, not really being able to "read" people, but i think you are right. Especially later when she drops some of her indoctrination she certainly seem to have an easier time than Eren relating to people/getting close to them. Might explain why she heads down quite a different path than him when they started at so similar points. There was quite a few instances here where small changes in dialogue and expression of faces made things feel quite different, here for example Magath looks even more miserable and torn over what they are about to do. I like most of the differences in the manga but i do think i prefer Erens totally empty stare in the anime more, makes his actions and state of mind more inscrutable. Also i missed Gabi clearly gritting her teeth, mirroring Eren doing the same all the way back in s1e2. I'm glad that they mentioned the total devestation to the ecosystem that the rumbling would cause. In the anime i have wondered if Isayama really have considered what it would do to the planet besides killing all the people. It's more besides just offing all species outside of Paradis, one problem with cutting down/destroying all vegetation or forests are that rain washes away all the soil, and i can't even imagine what that would be like on a planetary scale. Huge swaths of land would become unusable for probably thousands of years, made in to barren deserts. All those nutrients, chemicals and particulates of this trampled and burned world would wash out to sea and poison it. It would lead to massive algae blooms further contaminating the seas and draining them of oxygen, everything single thing then dying would only compound the problem with the decay further poisoning and starving the water of oxygen. The damage to seas might be as bad as that to the land. Also i'm not sure what would happen but i'm pretty sure that every forest and every other piece of vegetation in existence burning would severly screw up the atmosphere (and weatherpatterns), filling it with particles and blotting out the sun. Now maybe it wouldn't reach that high up into the atmosphere and would be a relative temporary problem but it would certainly lead to acid rains and more stuff ending up in the oceans aggravating the problem there... Eren might have inadvertently doomed Paradis anyways. If only he had studied ecology, biogeography and biogeochemistry, then he might have chosen a different path.

At least Gabi seems more…extroverted? Socially adjusted? Than Eren? Maybe she’s more different from him than I gave her credit for! But YES, Magath seems more at odds with what he’s doing, which I think makes his decision to help Paradis in the end much more believable. And Eren’s emotion makes his decisions the more frustrating/complicated – I’m sure Isayama does that by design. And ahh, the Gabi vs. Eren body language parallels! Gotta love ‘em! Okay, I am VERY glad they called out about the ecosystem being damaged like we were discussing in the comment section around the time the anime was coming out. But seriously, I will have to talk about this in a future volume, but there’s so much stacked against what Eren didn’t know that he couldn’t have predicted but it says something for his actions and not realizing the OVERALL consequences it could bring…save the planet, Survey Corps! Stop Eren! 😛Thanks for the comment!
