**CAGED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Oooh, this was SUCH a great episode with SUCH intrigue -- from learning about Chloe's tragic past, to learning about how MUCH Ruthvern has changed over the course of the past, to Noe and "J.J." bonding, to things escalating to the cliffhanger...

...this episode went by SO fast and I am HUNGRY for more!

Machina was first mentioned in episode 6. He was the host of the party Naenia showed up to, and it was mentioned that he's abnormally interested in automatons - human inventions - for a vampire. Also, about the flowers, it's mentioned in one of the little flashbacks with Noe and his Teacher that after Babel, vampires, the blue flowers, and astermite (the blue stones they use to power stuff like airships) showed up. It's also rumoured that the flowers appear wherever the formula has been tampered with.

Awesome reaction and discussion!! Jean-Jacques is sooo adorable in this one!! He is just a cute little cinnamon bun!! So precious!! dfhejfjcmjkdc The jokes this translation leaves out... The whole bit whre Ruthven first meets Cloe is much funnier in Japanese because at first he calls her "young lady" and then he switches to "grandma", literally insulting Cloe to her face XDD I looove all the parallels between Ruthven and Noe!! Ruthven looks so sincere and kind in the past. I wonder what happened to him to change him so much. He looks so traumatized and not at all there in that scene with Cloe where he tries to suck her blood. He seems crazed with pain there, both physical and mental. And thet bloody tear that dripped from beneath his bandages... AND it seems like he regrets it after it happened! But is he genuinely sorry or is it regret that his control technique went wrong? He is such a mystery! I wonder what happened to his eye. I also wonder if Ruthven saw himself in Noe when he meet with him for tea and even though he has different ideals now, thats why he decided not to kill him, not the other excuses he gave. Ohh also, by the way, will you read Vanitas manga after you finish the anime?

Thank you for the comment -- I remember the flowers being mentioned showing up after the tower of Babel -- with the "formula tampering" -- was that information that we were presented with in the anime? I don't remember when that was said? Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the kind words and comment! I LOVE Jean-Jacques! He's so cute! :) And man, Ruthvern being SAVAGE and insulting Chloe! X_X There's definitely a LOT of mystery with Ruthvern; I love seeing how sincere and kind he was in the past, but seeing how easily he turns into this twisted and dark character -- I can't say I "like" him as a character, especially with what he's done to Noe and how two-faced he is now, but this show likes to play with how we view characters, so I'll save my opinions of him until we know the full story! :) But I'm looking forward to learning more about him! I definitely think he spared Noe because he saw himself in him at the dinner. Ah, I don't know if I will immediately follow with the manga -- I was told on YT the manga isn't much farther past the anime at this point -- I'll have to think about it.
