**THEORY TIME HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

After looking at Chapter 92 of the TGCF Manhua, we dive into these four chapters and OH MY GOSH -- I am with Xie Lian with "theory time" but we're looking at possible reincarnation?! The Mountain Spirits could be guoshi?! There are a LOT of theories thrown out in this one and Hua Cheng is trying to be MXTX and tell us not to get TOO crazy with the tinfoil hats, but how can we NOT?!  

Oh, and Qi Ying is now a doll, there are corpse-eating rats, we're running straight towards Mt. Tonglu...no big deal.

Thanks for the reaction! Movie night's over and nearly everyone's back together, except LW who chose to go on her own path and missed the Mountain Express to the Klin. When BY pull out that pot with the toppling phoenix stew and PM going "why do you still have that sh*t with you", I laughed so hard. But honestly, XL himself has used his cooking to put down dozens of Taoists, multiple heavenly officials, his cousin the near supreme and one actual supreme ghost king, and now he and his adopted daughter made this thing together, it's wise to have it on you to be thrown at enemies like a grenade or bomb if you ask me. I was even a little disappointed that they didn't give the mountain spirit some before leaving the mountain to dive down into the Pompeii/Wuyong city. And 'toppling phoenix' is actually an idiom for ‘out of order’ and mostly used as a way of saying 'make love', I'm betting on that XL's thinking something naughty when giving the soup this name...... HC: When you encounter something dangerous, please don't touch it without thinking, your highness. XL: and you too, don't touch anything suspicious. Me: so......maybe you two can just go kissing in the background and let PM touch it? Just like with that femur bone? He seems to be having loads of fun with it. NOPE, not devil carnivore rats the size of cats, that's just too much. And also, that's solid proof that MXTX has her way with terrifying monsters. And the ending of this set of chapters proves again that being multilingual can came handy when debating with Ke Mo the angry 10 feet tall Ban Yue general, or listening to evil rats squeaking the screams of their food before death...... MXTX, the queen of horror and cliffhangers.

In the manhua for the conversation between Xie Lian and Jun Wu that's already happened. That's the discussion they had before Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan went to Ghost City to investigate who the heavenly official that set off the Ascending Fire Dragon Spell. Very easy to get that mixed up considering how long it feels since Jun Wu sent them off to investigate. That pose of Xie Lian sighing is definitely Baby Girl/Disney Princess pose! Mu Qing's belief that others look down on him for his humble upbringing I feel makes him very similar to Lang Qianqiu in that neither is able to relinquish their past as a mortal. Definitely fair enough that Xie Lian couldn't be 100% that it was his Guoshi's voice he could hear, especially considering he's not hearing the voice clearly but rather through a wall of earth. Yin Yu being terrified to have been discovered by Quan Yizhen hurts my heart. But Quan Yizhen is just a puppy dog 🥺 But I do kinda love that Hua Cheng turned Quan Yizhen into a daruma doll; it shows to me that Hua Cheng and Yin Yu have a good relationship, even if Hua Cheng does question how frantic Yin Yu was to flee from Quan Yizhen. I love that Hua Cheng keeps a very neutral stance in regards to the identity of the man that was on the other side of the wall. His consideration of all the possibilities is very like how Xie Lian is. But because the man could be his Guoshi, and linked with his past, Xie Lian has a more difficult time of thinking about it from a neutral standpoint. Yet he still manages to come up with some theories that could make all the puzzle pieces they currently have fit together. Loved how excited you were over you and Xie Lian potentially connecting the dots 🤣 Hua Cheng declaring he'll always be on and at Xie Lian's side 🥰 Yin Yu standing next to them forgotten: 🥶😶 Honestly reminds me so much of Mo Dao Zu Shi when Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and Wen Ning leave Lotus Pier; and only after being all lovey-dovey does Wei Wuxian realise Wen Ning has been there the *whole* time. Also that moment of Yin Yu glancing to Hua Cheng for permission to call Xie Lian by his name rather than title reminds me so much of all those fanarts of Xie Lian seeing Hua Cheng as just this kind person, whereas everyone else sees a terrifying Ghost King. Pei Ming really is like a cat playing with the daruma doll. But it adds to him being very much a do-er/person of action. When there's nothing to do but wait he gets a little fidgety and bored. Yin Yu does still care about his shidi!!! 🥺 Love him taking the opportunity of Pei Ming being distracted by Pei Xiu to 'rescue' Quan Yizhen. Banyue still having the Toppled Phoenixes is crazy. Especially considering how Pei Xiu is *still* being affected by it (with regards to his speech) this long after have ate that poison! Tian Guan Ci Fu really shows off what talent Mo Xiang Tong Xiu has as a writer. The way she weaves romance into comedy before hitting us with sudden horror elements is just top tier writing. It's hard to write a good jump scare like you get in horror movies, but that moment of Xie Lian seeing the creepy face feels reminiscent of a good horror movie to me. Of course it's our resident Hualian shipper that notices (and points out) the red string connecting Hua Cheng and Xie Lian 🥰🤣 Second time Xie Lian's had to watch Hua Cheng throw himself down a deep dark hole... For the buried city I get such Pompeii vibes too. Especially with the forms of the bodies and the positions some of them were found in. Makes me wonder if Mo Xiang Tong Xiu took that as inspiration for this Wuyong City. Yin Yu going off by himself just triggers warning alarms in my head. That's one of the first rules in horror movies: don't split up! 🤣 Hua Cheng inviting Xie Lian back to his place to scour for antiques feels like such a pick-up line! He previously tried with the armoury, so now Hua Cheng's trying his hand with antiques instead 😆 Not the biggest fan of rats so the description of these big-ass rats is a massive NOPE for me. Add to that the very vivid description of them feasting on the dead, and it's a good thing I'm not eating right now 🤢 Xie Lian hearing and understanding the voices of the dead Wuyong is terrifyingly creepy. But such a great cliffhanger.

LW "missing the mountain express" - that was hilarious wording! And yes, Pei Ming saying what we all were thinking! There's no way that food is still hot...or edible! :P See, I don't think XL was thinking anything dirty when he named the dish that; but in true XL fashion, it came out way more sexual than he realized. Not that HC would complain of course...or PM for that matter! BAHAHAA -- THAT should be the strategy for the rest of the series! HuaLian just makes out while Pei Ming investigates everything for them! :P The rats were REALLY a gross sight for us in the novel and yessss, MXTX is indeed the queen of cliffhangers and horrific story elements! I cannot WAIT for next week! Thank you for the comment!

Ohhhhhh, okay, see THAT makes sense, haha! So much has happened since them, so it’s good you reminded me, thank you! I want Yin Yu to embrace Qi Ying!! He is so innocent! I feel Hua Cheng is the meme of “Why are you running!?” The daruma doll technique that he tends to use on others is interesting, too; makes me think HC still has some childlike quality to him. Xie Lian certainly seems emotionally compromised in terms of it being the Guoshi! And OH MY GOSH – Yin Yu is the Wen Ning of HOB! I never thought of it that way, but it’s SO TRUE! AHAHAHA! And YES, another piece that shows us everyone considers HC the most terrifying instead of XL. Banyue just carrying around this nasty pot of cooked scorpion snakes is…ew. And poor Pei Su STILL being affected by the food. I continued to be impressed with MXTX and their writing for SURE! And the creepy face is a PERFECT example! How terrifying! And poor XL, watching HC jump down another hole. :3 And seriously, NO ONE NEEDS TO SPLIT UP in this story! Especially when they’re not powerful. AHAHA, Hua Cheng: If he doesn’t want to hang out with swords…maybe a date antique shopping?! He’s so desperate in that regard, haha! And yeah, no…when my brother and I would clean the pig barns on our farm, there’d be mice EVERYWHERE – not rats but still, nope. And yes, what a creepy end of chapters and cliffhanger!
