**Rematch-Worthy Headphone Warnings**

Okay, so these are my favorite volumes YET! We not only get the conclusion of the To-Oh vs. Kaijou games, but the introduction of Nigou has its own CHAPTER (which was adorable), but we ALSO get the introduction of BOTH Himuro and fashion icon, Murisakibara!

And if that wasn't ENOUGH, we ALSO get the lead up and start of the Shutoku rematch against Seiren! And Midorima's never looked BETTER! This volume set had SO MUCH happening; I'm reeling from it all!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Anime Annie

Very on point that comment from Fujimaki about getting into Kuroko's headspace considering your comment during Mayuzumi's audio drama about us not having gotten that glimpse into Kuroko's mind or thoughts in the anime. I love the mirroring of those panels for Aomine and Kise. Aomine's very shadowed and angry/intense-looking. Imayoshi, although he calls Aomine the best they have, there's no mention of trust from any of Aomine's Touou teammates. Whereas Kise's panel is much brighter and somewhat serene. Also Kaijou all are showing their belief and trust in Kise. That block and then the full page of Kaijou's reaction just gunning for my heart. Definitely did a good job for the build up in both the anime and the manga for this moment 😭 Kasamatsu hitting Kise and telling him to pull himself together in the manga is reminding me a lot of a moment in the anime from the Shuutoku-Rakuzan match. Specifically when Midorima was on the ground and Miyaji slapped him upside the head. Both Kaijou and Shuutoku giving off a similar feel that they have dependable senpai...and could be why both Midorima and Kise grow so much within their teams throughout the series. That loss for Kaijou definitely hurts even more in the manga, though the Kasamatsu locker scene honestly hurt me more in the anime. I think because it was more in the dark and so the idea of Kasamatsu crying in frustration and sadness alone in a dark locker room hurt me all the more. Aomine, with where he currently is right now, is not in the headspace to help Kise or drop the tough guy act around him. I feel like the fact we don't get to see his expression through most of that moment is very telling. It certainly doesn't excuse him from being an ass though. Definitely a good writing technique for revealing a hint of Yosen to tease us and make us want more without actually revealing anything. Honestly reminds me a lot of Haikyuu!! when the reporter briefly mentions about Shiratorizawa absolutely trouncing Ohgi Minami in the Inter High Preliminaries, before the report goes on to talking about Aoba Johsai and Oikawa. You're not remembering wrong. In the anime Nigou was picked up after they visited the Okonomiyaki restaurant (after the first Shuutoku match). We were honestly robbed of those scenes of Kuroko trying to help Kagami get used to Nigou. So adorable. And in all those moments Kuroko seemed like less of a little sh*t than he did in the anime when he chased after Kagami with Nigou in his arms. Honestly crazy that we're already at the beginning of Season 2 😲 That panel of Kuroko asking "Were you good friends?" honestly seems like it'd be fitting for the jealous meme for the second half of "You know other men?" 🤣 Out of all character introductions Himuro's definitely feels the most like the mangaka knew exactly what direction he wanted to go in with his character from the very start. Although I'd definitely classify Himuro as the 'pretty boy' in school, the way he wears his hair with the slanted fringe/bangs honestly reminds me so much of my own High School days and the Emo boys and how they styled their hair. So in that sense 'gloomy' could be a somewhat fitting description. Also considering how exuberant and sunny Kagami is in comparison, I imagine anyone would seem more morose. That puppy punch was definitely Kuroko's way of reminding Kagami of his presence and to make sure Kagami heeds his boyfriend's lecture 🤣 Murasakibara's first appearances (both for at the Inter High and the streetball tournament) have involved him getting lost. Makes a lot more sense considering the "shortcut" through the trees he took to get to the streetball court for Kuroko's birthday. Murasakibara channelling Akashi with that line 😂 Murasakibara I feel is the most accidentally fashionable. Kise is fashionable but it feels more like it's part of his model persona rather than just being fashionable. That image of Kiyoshi's hand in the shadows over Murasakibara (in a very similar pose to him being over Kuroko) is honestly so cool. Also really hits home that these two are the ones that'll have a bit of a rivalry. The panel of the Aomine and Momoi fight definitely feels so much more serious/heavier than how it appeared in the anime. Poor Kise just trying to cheer on his friend. And he doesn't even get any sympathy from his captain either! 🥺 They really are only give us sneak peeks of Akashi...though we've gotten to see more of him than we did of Aomine in his first appearance 😆 Yeah the game against Josei was very much a way to showcase Kiyoshi's abilities and help show why so many of the First Years' senpais have so much respect for Kiyoshi/are wary of him. All the Spidey senses coming alive 🤣🤣🤣 It's just as hilarious as in the anime. Oooh Hanamiya introduction! Kirisaki Dai Ichi are certainly sitting in the right seats with that old railing with the flecks of paint on it 🚮 That serious look from Midorima definitely is the closest his art has been to the anime so far. The mangaka's quality of art these last few volumes have been crazy. I did giggle at your slight frustration at being unable to remember if Seirin or Shuutoku win this match. To be fair they went by at such a fast pace they did blur a little together. Shan't remind you what the outcome is. Shuutoku have a dun dun dun moment with the words "I'll pass" will never not be hilarious. But to be fair to them all, since joining Shuutoku they've given Midorima three whims a day. So for someone they've given that kind of leeway to to be willing to pass is definitely shocking. Yay my besties Kise and Momoi 🥰 Seeing Midorima's development within his team and his dynamic with Takao definitely makes the game a lot more fun. I personally don't get that feeling about rooting for the other team (like I do with Haikyuu!! all. the. time.) except the Kaijou vs Seirin match at the Winter Cup. Midorima's growth however does make me so proud of him. Takao's line in the manga about them "not being friends" is not as big a lie as in the anime. Still a lie. You two are friends! Quit denying it. Serious Kuroko ready to play is so good! 🤩 I'm laughing so hard at Riko and Hyuuga on a date to buy protein powder for the team. Kuroko's reaction is just perfection.

The mangaka definitely rationalizes why we don’t get Kuroko’s inner thoughts in this, as if he’s sensing the audience’s questioning hahaha! The Kise and Aomine panels are AMAZING – I really love them! And that theme of TRUST, bwahaha! Kasamatsu and Kise’s panels had me with heart eyes, for sure! That connection to Shutoku is there, too, yes! I agree, 100%, the loss for the team is worse in the manga, but the anime REALLY heightened the loss for Kasamatsu. I love that we slowly but surely get Aomine opening up, but yeah, he’s not there, yet. I agree the manga made his fight with Momoi much more serious, and I was hoping they’d show the reunion/makeup – poor kids! And yes, the scene of Yosen passing by and the bit with the reporters is a LOT like Haikyuu! I WISH we had gotten all these scenes with Kagami and Kuroko meeting Nigou or had an OVA for it at least – they would have been SO cute to see animated! I can’t believe we’re at season 2 ALREADY. It’s WILD. What the heck?! Jealous Kuroko, Himuro being beautiful, and Murasakibara just SHOWING UP like he does is so good. That’s interesting about Murasakibara’s first entrance is showing him lost…hm. The series is bound and determined to NOT show us Akashi until the last moment, eh? 😛 I love the symbolism of Hanamiya and the Kirisaki entrance and how Midorima looks like the anime version of himself! And yessss, it’ll be fun to see my reaction to the end of the Shutoku vs. Seiren game, hahaha, I completely forgot and then the realization hits me like a truck! 😛 I agree; Haikyuu makes you root for EVERYONE, hahaha! Thank you for the kind words and comment! SO excited that this manga is running and gunning like it is! 😀
