**THEORIZINGLY-GOOD HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

I've been building up my theories and thoughts on Nikaido for this entire season, and this episode it all finally comes out in the wash! I love this layered boy, but I also have expectations for his character, and hopefully the rest of the season will let it come to fruition!   

This series has been SO GOOD and this episode is seriously one of my favorites -- but I've said that all season, haven't I? Tsurune doesn't MISS!

[WARNING: If you haven't watched Free! this comment contains a spoiler for season 3.] Thank you for your "rant!" I was originally watching ahead, but I enjoy your reviews so much that I've started waiting to watch new episodes immediately before you drop your videos on Patreon! I read something recently about how easily our minds can trick us into thinking that vices are actually virtues. For example, we may justify stinginess by thinking ourselves frugal. Or rationalize wastefulness by thinking ourselves generous. Nikaido is a young man on a mission, but there is a thin line between dedication and obsession. It can be hard to know the difference. The best barometer is the effect it has on our mental health and on our relationships. Nikaido's attitude obviously has something to do with his uncle. And I'm sure the show will give us details that tug at our heartstrings because, well, it's KyoAni! But however justified Nikaido's feelings may be, his single-mindedness prevents him from being truly happy. It hinders his team from being sustainable. And ironically, I think it also hurts his uncle who just wants Nikaido to realize his full potential. We can all get "stuck" in our own heads sometimes, and we need someone from the "outside" to help us realize it. At one time or another, we are all Ikuya who needs Haru to swim in the lane next to him. We are all Minato who needs Masa to take him off the range for a while. I hope something or someone gets through to Nikaido and gets him out of his own head.

Yes, Motomura and Sase have the roomates ship dynamic. "And they were roomates" XD I also never had the feeling that Kirisaki was shown to be this villian school that we should hate because they're rich. Ryohei calling Shu with his firstname and everyone's shocked reactions were great. Kaito wanting to protect Nanao from the girls when they were just interested in our girls was the funniest shit. XD Nikaido's character is definitely breaking my heart. I for sure need a scene where Nikaido is crying in front of Fuwa and telling him how he feels. He needs to let it out. That reminds me a lot of [spoiler for people who have not read the manga to Yona of the dawn] Soo-won and how he never cried over his parents deaths and just bottled it up. But it has to come out at some point. For both of them. And when it does it will make me cry. Also Nikaido's attitude towards not caring about finding new members could at some point cause trouble for the team. Maybe the younger teammates will not be satisfied with it the closer the new school year gets. I loved your Nikaido rant. Wish you a wonderful day!

Momomura and Sase have this WONDERFUL dynamic! I really enjoy it! And Ryohei referring to Shu by the first name -- we love to see the reactions! :P God, I am not sure what was more funny -- Kaito being trolled by the Seidou girls, or Seiya completely watching it all go down and patting him on the shoulder about it! :P That is a PERFECT analogy to Su-won! Yes, Nikaido needs to let that emotion out and I feel Fuwa is going to try and be there for whenever that may happen -- we just need to see if KyoAni is going to give us that moment! I'm glad y'all were okay with the "rant" -- I LOVE Nikaido and I'm rooting for him...I just want to shake him a little, haha! And yes, he is obsessed - and you can tell he doesn't realize the difference! And yes, it clearly has connection to his uncle...KyoAni, please spare us pain!
