**EDAMAME-RELATED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Yeah, not making the mistake of leaving Whiteboard-kun out this time! Whiteboard-kun is NEEDED as we not only break down our trio of characters (Edamura, Laurent, and Abbie), but their motivations, what we know about them, and their resolve to try and swindle the hollywood mafia out of...a LOT of cash!

Our boy Edamura seems so innocent, but as he proves to Laurent, he may just have the grit to make it as a swindler that can keep our blonde on his toes!

Nice light-hearted start to the episode with Abbie cutting Edamura down...then the lovely flashback to Edamura's past(!) Heart hurts for our guy. And some mysterious drama surrounding his Dad. Edamura's gone through so much. Though unlike Kudo he hasn't gone to prison. He got a three years suspended sentence, so as long as he didn't commit any crimes in those three years he wouldn't have to do the 18-month prison sentence. But he'd still have a permanent criminal record. Kudo did do time and then got parole but we don't know how long he was in prison for. So there is the possibility that when Edamura approached Kudo he still had a suspended sentence over his head, but at that point he really couldn't care less. Honestly the way they go back through things to reveal the Con reminds me so much of the Oceans movies with George Clooney et al. Also gotta love the Shi Ohn Kim reveal of her having been a seductress as part of her con games. Just when you thought all the flirtatiousness would be on Laurent's side of things (with those words and focus on his gestures and eyes), Edamura leans in close and whispers to him. Think this was the moment for me that I was fully invested in shipping them together 🤣 Last episode the bits with Hollywood and the drugs was all very glitzy and glamour. This episode they do not hold back on talking or showing the much darker side. Abbie's attitude and uncaring ways definitely makes her a favourite. Also she basically gives us confirmation that Laurent is interested in Edamura romantically/sexually with that potentially throwaway comment about his lower body controlling his actions. Little context I forgot to mention last episode: the figure Edamura got from the capsule machine (and that he looks at in this episode after leaving Laurent and Abbie), Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was a samurai and feudal lord in the Sengoku period. He came from a peasant background but is considered to be one of the main players that helped Oda Nobunaga to try and unify Japan through both his negotiating skills and battling abilities. After Nobunaga was killed by a traitor, Hideyoshi got vengeance for him, and then took the power and authority Nobunaga had gathered for himself. Through multiple campaigns he was successful in completely unifying Japan. And there Edamura is playing the Reverse Uno card 🤣 Laurent shouldn't have mentioned he won their bet. Likely helped light a fire under Edamura. Bet isn't won until the contract is signed. But Abbie's glance at Laurent feels so much like "Oh crap, he's fallen now hasn't he?"

Thank you for clearing that up about Edamura – and yessss, my heart goes out to him, dealing with a conviction he naively missed and the reputation that shadows him from his mysterious father! That’s a GREAT note about relating to Ocean’s Eleven; that comparison is great! And *nervous laugh* I’m sure you all noted that moment Edamura leaned in to whisper – THUS, A SHIP WAS BORN! And the confirmation that Laurent is interested *ahem* in Ed is…fangirl worthy, for sure! I also love Abbie’s character a LOT so far! Yes, the grittiness and darkness of the dark side of Hollywood was a nice touch in this! Thank you for the information and the comment, too, on Hideyoshi! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this back and forth with Laurent and Edamura play out! :) Cheers to Great Pretender! :)
