**NUT-BUSTING HEADPHONE WARNING** 

Oh my. Oh my, oh my -- I am SO on board with this series and many things about it: Aki's straight-laced seriousness, Power's unhinged personality, and Denji -- who has never had human decency or kindness, INSTANTLY falling for Makima and ready to become a literal "dog" for her.   

From the various themes to the HILARIOUS subversion of the "Hero's Quest," I have a feeling Whiteboard-kun and I are going to have fun breaking this series down this fall!

Ooh so while watching your reaction it was the second time watching this episode and what i just noticed is that Denji tells Aki 'If there is a Devil i could be friends with i would" and Aki says he'll remember that to than in the end of the episode pair him with Power. It makes me think that he might have just paired them together knowing Denji wouldn't protest working with a Fiend. Though it might of course be something completely different that we'll find out later.

Funny thing is, I actually heard it from someone else, but the way Denji says he wants to „hug“ Makima again, could be interpreted (in Japanese) as having „intimate intercourse“, which makes Aki‘s reaction even more understandable xD

The adaptation of the manga so far has been amazing - only 2 episodes in😁 and your reaction and discussion of the material makes it even better. It feels like a slow and steady build up and I’m so looking forward to what comes next. Firstly, Denji is just such a likeable MC and you can’t really fault him as the expression of his primal desires is very genuine and innocent, as you said. That makes it very difficult to dislike him. He doesn’t have a single bad bone in his body and no malicious intent whatsoever. Our pretty grumpy boy Aki has been introduced and I’m glad they’ve made him look even better. The chaotic dynamic is already evident and of course… Power! She is awesome and her VA makes her even more likeable — the shenanigans are just commencing 😁😁 Isn’t Makima mysterious, I wonder what hides beyond those eyes… I suppose we will find out how she gets on with our Denji going forward 😁 I also love that they are going all out and we are getting a new ED each week - so far the songs have been bangers so I’m looking forward to each one

Yes! They were saying on the Discord and Twitter I remember someone noting each episode will have a different ED -- if they each have different visuals, that will be so cool, too! :D

Thank you! Yeah, I can't quite fit in manga readings in the schedule right now, and honestly, I like watching the anime without manga comparisons since often it can skew one's impression of an adaptation if you have expectations from the manga. But if I get time, I might check out the manga that covers season 1 on my own time when the season is over. :) Thanks for the comment!!

I'm just laughing in my head about how if the genders were reversed this would be taken. Not by Romania, I mean in general.

It's weird to imagine if it were a woman lusting after a man's....butt? Abs? As a woman, the comparison is...hard to nail down, for me anyway. I definitely think if Denji was a woman wanting to "get together" with Makima as a man, it might be taken in a different way. It's hard to say, I feel, because the trope Fujimoto parodies and attaches to Denji is seemingly pidgeon-holed. *shrugs* But I do think Denji's innocence and naive charm in it all saves him from being seen as "sleazy," which I've felt with similar tropes in other series.

I think I meant more in the dominance sense, with a person in desperate need of care and compassion, and then a helper figure shows up ... it just feels like the dynamic would be different, and received differently by some audiences, if there was a gender reversal here.

Oooooooohhhh, I gotcha now! That WOULD be interesting to see how that would have gone down...now you've made me want to imagine a gender-swapped AU of this story, hahaha!!

When Denji just made his goal to touch boobs, that scene there (he turned back and looked up), it's literally the same shot of Shinji in the OP of NGE, just with an opposite direction!

Thank you so much for the kind words and comment -- this series has taken its time to set up these characters and the world around them and I agree, it feels like a slow build to something and I'm excited to see WHAT! :) Denji, yes, not a bad bone in his body -- so it feels innocent with his desires; Aki being the grumpy, reluctant buddy-cop partner, and Power as the crazed and unhinged third partner -- surely their shenanigans will be insane, and I'm here for it! I agree on both fronts; Makima is mysterious and I want more with her and the ED's so far have been sooooo good! I can't wait for more! :)
