This isn't my first basketball anime, but it's definitely the most shippable so far! ^^ 

In all seriousness, though, I love the concept already of a multi-national championship team going their separate ways in high school and us following the "phantom/rumored" player who was possibly instrumental to their victory and yet gets and takes NONE of the credit! 

Kuroko and Kagami are already interesting protagonists and Kise Ryota is my type of diva antagonist, so we are off on a great foot! I have a feeling this series will be an interesting one to watch this fall!

Finally Finally Finally!!!!! I am so excited to watch this but I need to finish my work first. 😅😅😅

!!! YEY. Tbh the wait for this feels longer than the weekly wait I do for other series, but maybe I was just extra excited for this one since it's a new series. Who knows. I absolutely adore Kagami for his "I don't want to be the best, I want to play against the best" type of mentality. Top 5 fav characters for me personally. And I'm glad to see you love him already as well! And about the shipping, yeah Kuroko x Kagami is cute af ship. Not my personal OTP, but nice. Which is about my favourite thing about KnB FANDOM is the lack of ship wars. Usually, in such a big fandom with so many ships, there tends to be some form of fighting against each other. And back on Tumblr, a few people had somewhat of salty take towards other ships, ( so few that I have never seen any personally, but heard from friends) the lack of ship wars is one of the local mysteries. And speaking of ships, idk how much of a "multi-shipper" you are so I'll warn you not to get too attached to a single ship too quickly. This might be one of my top sports animes so I'm really happy for you to start this show!

Thank you for the reaction! I like this show for its story but also a big shipper of many couplings. You know... sport anime with lots of characters are huge sea of various ships 🤣 Meanings of character names in Kuroko's Basketball should be known... they have lots of similarity or contrast according to personalities and connections between characters (Sorry for my bad English.. I feel like I cannot convery what I want to say here) Kuroko literally means black kid, which is stage assistances dressing in black in traditional Japanese performance such as Kabuki. Kuroko appears on stage but there do not exist in the story. Kagami = fire god. His first name Taiga derived from Buddhist term which means freedom gained from enlightment.

With this rewatch, as soon as they talked about how The GoM was a team of individuals I immediately thought of Inashiro lol I'm glad your head was in the same place mine was 😂

As much as I'll miss Ace of the Diamond, I'm happy to be moving on to something else; and while it's not my favorite basketball anime, it *is* really good! It's still early days, so there's really not much to say other than early impressions. But I can't say that there's a character who I *don't* like, except maybe Kaijo's coach. Kuroko is still a bit of an enigma, other than he likes basketball and vanilla shakes (which are *not* bland, excuse me! :P); and Kagami is a hot-head, but not in a bad way. One thing I found out, and it's related to Kuroko's being a shadow, is that a "kuroko" is a stagehand in Japanese theatre, whose presence on the stage the audience ignores. I found that interesting. Then there's the shipping. Three episodes in we already see how this series has launched more ships than Helen of Troy. It's a shipper's and multishipper's paradise! For me, we already have Kagami/Kuroko, Kagami/Kise, Kagami/Riko, Kise/Kuroko, Kise/Kasamatsu and Hyuga/Riko. (And I have a few favorites among those :D). That's 2 per episode! Will we end up at 150?! XD And then there's the jilted ex vibe from Kise! You can see why this series is so popular. :D I do want to recommend something for the OVAs. I personally feel 22.5 is misplaced and find it more appropriately placed between 50 and 51. Other than that, I think they're appropriately placed. Finally, by the way, you hurt me with that "it's officially 'retro'". :P T.T

Unbelievably excited for you to react to this and watch your journey through this anime!!! Fantastic reaction and discussion as always! I got a bit wordy (as usual) 🤣 "it came out ten years ago; it's officially retro" Really starting this reaction with violence in the form of basically reminding us all that we're getting old 🤣 The Generation of Miracles, GoM for short, or in Japanese: Kiseki no Sedai. Such mystery surrounding them! And there it is! Is this a new shipping record, Romania? Intro and OP and we've already built our first ship 🤣 But you really can't go wrong with the red/blue dynamic. Fun though that size-wise it's pretty much reversed in comparison to one of my favourite red/blue dynamics, Renga (shorter one has blue hair and blue eyes, taller one has red hair and red eyes). Their ship name is KagaKuro. Can't wait for you to gain a fleet of ships with this series! 🤣 I almost choked laughing when you started singing "Belle" for Kuroko! Oh man that is a perfect comparison for his high school introduction. I definitely think Gou and Riko would get on like a house on fire. You can't help but love Kuroko and Kagami's interactions. For all that Kagami appears to be a more abrasive character and Kuroko appears to be more innocent and calm, Kuroko is not one to take any shit. He also has no qualms about giving Kagami the straight facts to his face (such as when they discuss the difference between Kagami and the GoM). Your likening Kuroko to David Blaine is so spot on. "Let's add magic tricks to basketball" said no-one ever, until Kuroko comes along. That moment between them with the lighting is epic and definitely gives the feeling of the start of something great. Mega confession vibes. It is an intriguing premise of having Kuroko's Middle School teammates all in separate schools, and to gradually introduce them. Helps make the overall plot just that little bit different from most other sport anime. That shushing of Kuroko's and his sudden appearance outside the library to talk with Kagami, and then suddenly dipping shows you that Kuroko for all his innocence and calmness can also be a little shit! 🤣 I do like the likening Kuroko to Xie Lian. I can definitely see *a lot* of similarities between the two. Kise!!! 😍 I do love his introduction. Also beating Kagami whilst still dressed in his school uniform and indoor shoes instead of basketball shoes. But yeah he really showed up at a rival school to try and 'kidnap' (with permission) Kuroko 🤣 But the change up in the next episode from his lackadaisical approach always makes me smile and gave me shivers the first time I saw it. More to this teenage boy than we first see. I laughed at your reaction to Kagami breaking the hoop. Great way though for them to make Coach Takeuchi let them play on the full court. Shows how much of a fire his words put under Kuroko and Kagami that with just one play they get to play full court *and* Kise joins in. Kasamatsu 😍 Definitely one of my favourite captains in this series. I do like his dynamic with Kise. Gives me such IwaOi vibes, just with an added age difference so we get senpai and kouhai interaction too instead of childhood friends trope. Totally agree with you on Kaijou's Coach. A coach who thinks yelling at his players is a) useful, and b) conducive to winning is a dick. I also don't like his derisive tone for Seirin. As to his shock that Riko is the coach I feel like this is understandable. Riko herself is a teenager attending school. In any other sport anime she'd be the manager, possibly looking for ways to aid the actual coach and improve the players' conditions. The coach role is atypically filled by an adult; so you could also see it as him looking down on her as if she's a mere child playing dress-up. Kise is like a little puppy dog when he talks about Kuroko and how amazing he is. It's too adorable. Aaaand Kagami randomly has a breakdown on the court /jk But seriously no wonder everyone started looking at him funny with him laughing in such a deranged manner. Your excitement at the doggo in the ED was me when I first saw him too. Can't wait for you to meet him! Kagami won my heart with his spiel at the end of Episode 3 to Kise about that! I am excited that while we wait on more Ace of the Diamond, we have this to look forward to! I am really enjoying it already! And yeah, all the characters are fun except Kaijo's coach! And hahahaha -- my father ONLY drinks vanilla shakes, too! Apologies! They're...basic...not bland? Is that better? Going to stop now. Haha, but yes, Taiga being hot-headed but it not being a total detriment is refreshing, too! That is really neat about the tie-in to Kuroko's name and the performers on stage for it. As a multishipper, I'm sooooo ready, hahaha! If we end up with 150 ships...it's going to require Conspiracy-board-sama to deal through! XD "Jilted Ex Vibes" from Kise is SO TRUE! *Oprah Voice* You get a ship! And YOU get a ship! Oooh, that is good to know about Episode 22.5 -- I was curious about that! Thank you for the heads up! The fact that this series is a decade old doesn’t make me feel any less ancient! >.< I’m all about the GoM mystery, though! I can’t wait to unravel it! It definitely presents itself differently than what I was expecting for a sports anime! KagaKuro is an instant ship for me, but as a multishipper, I have a feeling I’m going to be setting sail to MANY this series! I’m so glad someone caught on that I was singing “Belle,” hahaha! That scene juxtaposed too well with it! :D Gou and Riko together, too, would be too much for one series, so we can’t have them in the same anime, haha! I do love that Kuroko is NOT playing games – he is serious and can be SAVAGE as much as he can be a trickster! Xie Lian vibes for SURE! :) It’s a great foil for Kagami’s very straightforward, blunt attitude! And YES, total confession vibes between David Blaine– I mean, Kuroko and Kagami. ^^ Kise is already a character I’m here for – coming to “whisk” Kuroko away! Good thing Kagami isn’t letting up! And yessss, more to Kise than one would think – that change-up in Episode 3 still gives me chills! But yessss, Kasamatsu is so much fun! :) I love his dynamic with Kise! SUCH IWAOI vibes! But yeah, Kaijou’s coach stinks. Boo on him! And yes, Kise acts like a puppy talking about Kuroko and Kagami gets on fire talking about him - such ship dynamics already! I am so happy you're watching this. KnB was my first sports anime and I nearly started running around looking for my cosplay jearsy just to watch this. I remember I watched the entirety in a week, and it was a hell of a week. I got to bond with my basketball playing brother after as well, just because I actually knew some terms finally. I don't actually have much to say off of these first few episodes, as I tend to be more of a character analysis person, and the interesting stuff has yet to come up. Just be ready for one hell of a cast.

I'm so excited that you're finally reacting to Kuroko no Basket! This is one of my favorite sports anime :) I love the characters so much, and I can't wait for your future reactions. For the record, Kuroko's VA is Kensho Ono, who also voices Raichi in Ace of the Diamond, along with Kagami's VA Yuki Ono who voices Jun from Ace. And Kise is the best boy in Knb and I can guarantee you'll love his character later on 😊 just a fun fact that Kise is the oldest miracle among the GOM's. So despite that he is the last miracle to play for the team, he is the eldest. Kise's VA Kimura Ryohei voices Amahisa and Bokuto, so when I watched Ace and Haikyuu I could instantly recognize his voice because it reminded me of Kise 😂 Also, I was appalled when you made that comment about vanilla shakes, I love them dearly 😂😭 When I heard Kuroko loves them too, I just loved his character more lmao. I would also recommend not watching a lot of the ed's because there can be major spoilers for later on in the show.
