**Maybe an Insightful Headphone Warning**

I'm FINALLY starting my journey looking at the Attack on Titan manga series, and ALREADY, there are things changing my perspective of characters, ships, and my mind is churning with ideas for the final season! How exciting! 

This series won't have a "set" time of release; just when I get a chance and can read a volume or two! Once we have a set date for Season 4, Part 3, I'll buckle down more with the manga reactions, but I hope you enjoy my journey for now!

So excited for this series! Using it as an opportunity for re-read before Part 3. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the differences and the art (especially the progression throughout, it’s quite incredible).

the "Colossal Skeleton" plothole is actually NOT a plothole, in s2 ep7 Armin makes this comment: "this time it's different, he's emitting steam while maintaining his form" it's implied that the colossal CAN use his skeleton for steam but what I assume would only be one gust of steam and that's why he never does it again, because it's more efficient to keep form

I'm gonna start this off with a terrible confession... i don't like reading mangas. I read comic books when i was little but these days i can't get into graphic novels, comic books, mangas and the like. Not sure why, but i don't get that emotionally attached to these forms of media. I can get really engrossed in a good series or movie, and i can really get into books and plow through them. Perhaps i need either the full complementary function of visuals, music and voice acting of a show, or the full freedom of imagination from the written word alone. Maybe this comes in some middle form that doesn't work for me personally. So what was the point of that? just to say that volume 1 is as far as i got, but i'll follow your journey through it all as your viewpoints and discussions makes it much more interesting. That said, i felt this was very close to the anime, i would say almost every panel here is used a reference for the anime animations. Some things where shuffled around and if the things from episodes 3 and 4 doesn't show up later that's a big change. Otherwise for me only Eren's dream and his fight with Jean stands out as that different to me. The Eren Jean fight was very reminiscent of their season 3 fight (the night before going to wall Maria) and maybe showing more similarities between the fights and why everyone were so "happy" Eren and Jean was again just as they used to be in the "good old days". Maybe i misunderstood you and you were just pointing out things you liked, but Armin having his hand shake and being frozen at the first attack, Mikasa looking away but Eren doing the opposite with Carla, Eren wanting Mikasa to go to the MPs, Armin chosing a "brainier" position and Mikasa looking at Hannah and Franz are all in the Anime too. Maybe dialog and faces were drawn different so they could be somewhat interpreted in divergent ways from the anime (my memory isn't that good), or i'm to colored by my anime version view of things that i can't see the nuance. 😉

Ahhhh, that's very interesting! I've always leaned more towards graphic novels than books (though I do love reading books), but I can get it when people aren't into them! I'm going to be REALLY interested in seeing what ended up being "anime only" from the series and I've heard there that the characterizations are different (if only slightly) from the anime - - that's a good point about some of these being in the anime; it's been a long time since I've watched season 1, so I couldn't remember! :) Thanks for that heads up! :D
