**PRINCELY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Ooohhh, Canute's "out of the cradle," eh? Holy smokes, this episode is chock full of not only action with Thorkell vs. Thorfinn, but the parallels between Thorfinn and Canute and Canute's "Awakening" and all it entails!

I had no clue the impact Willibald would have on this series, but he's witnessed and become the catalyst for a "miracle" and we're seeing Canute flying from the nest...is this what Askeladd saw originally in him before everyone else? I guess we'll find out next episode, but whooooo, there's a LOT to talk about with this one!

Speaking how you found how beautiful Canute was . In one of the interviews for anime release , mangaka was asked if he was part of production process or gave some guides to stuff. And he said that he asked the director and staff to make Canute super cute , much cuter than he is in the manga . Hahahah. Also the whole Canutes switch and just overall mindset flipp all of a sudden can be a point of contention in some circles. Since its very jarring and its not exactly gradual character arc where he arrived at this specific point. And I can see that how some people would not like it . I dont mind it personally , it makes for a big dramatic moment . He basically had an epiphany that made him rejet his beliefs and religion. Its def. among my fav episodes of the show , this , ep 14 and one more maybe . Theres a lot of fantastic imagery that relates to christianity, and just philosophical nature of conversation between Canute and priest. And I have to say the whole discrimination part of priests ideology certainly surprising and semi new concept . At least how its presented here . Also i found it interesting how you were talking about how Canute is done waiting for God to help him , to make paradise on earth and just take action into his hand . And immediately i thought how Askelad was done waiting for his king to return from Avalon and started taking action in his hands. How that idea hinges on Canute being worthy of Askelads allegiance . Funniest thing for me , how the fight between Thorkel and Thorfin was the least interesting part haha. Its a nice juxtaposition to the ideas with Canute and priest . But the actual character relevance seemed so shallow and basic in comparison , hahah

Also I would not mind watching your Vinland saga manga content , if you ever decide that . As much as i adore this show and its def among my favorites in last 5 years, the art in the manga alone is worth experiencing the same content .

After Season 2, it might be cool to go back through the manga and do some talk-throughs or comparisons! Part of me would want to wait for the anime to come out before diving into the manga...we'll see what things look like after that season.

HA! I find that amazing that the mangaka wanted Canute to look EVEN CUTER in the anime. :) I like it! Honestly, I'll probably talk about it in the discussion for Episode 19, but I didn't mind Canute's "wakeup" and sudden enlightenment -- it's an interesting parallel to Thorfinn, because you have Canute who instantly and willingly decides to make a change to make their situation better and break the cycle that is surrounding them -- and then you have Thorfinn, who has willingly chose to stay in the SAME cycle of violence and revenge without making a change for the better in ELEVEN YEARS. I kind of like that contrast between these characters and I feel the mangaka's making maybe some sort of statement with it? I'll bring it up in the next episode! :) But yesss, I'm very curious to see how Askeladd handles this "awakened" prince, how Canute handles Thorkell, and how Bjorn handles all this craziness happening between him, the traitorous soldiers, and Willibald. :P Willibald and Bjorn bonding? Do you ever have any plans on watching Berserk? It’s one of those series like evangelion where watching it will give you a deeper appreciation for many series that you have watched or may watch.

It's on the "Retro" choices I have to eventually poll again, but yes, I do want to watch it and check out the manga afterwards at some point! :) :) It's on my short list when we get to it!
