The ghost bridegroom arc continues! Yep, the novel and manhua are much more gruesome and they censored a LOT in donghua...And believe me, this is not the only part that they've censored, wait until you get to the banyue arc filled with puppets, mutated snakes, faces buried in the ground......btw MXTX sure knows her way with horror, really hoping she could write a complete horror story someday. Xuan Ji canonly 170cm, she has such beautiful long legs in manhua! And that chest tattoo! The translated version also censored a bit, in the most original version of the book Ling Wen didn't say "Pei Ming would cheat on his girls", she flatly suggested that he would invite his girl (likely girls) to have a threesome…… "What kind of people are these! "said Xie Lian, who's hinted to be the one with the most complex and twisted backstory of the entire book. Xie Lian's just super strong, in the extra we acknowledged that after re-ascending the cursed collar doesn't just come off, you need to ask the heaven emperor to remove it to regain your power. Xie Lian never said that he has his collar removed before he charged into heaven and fought the emperor for 30min before getting kicked back down, so he's able to withstand who's likely the most powerful god in heaven (because he's the EMPEROR) for half an hour without any magic, that's just, W-O-W. The description of Hua Cheng if he was a real groom 😍 Gentle with Xie Lian; terrifying to everyone and everything else. "That youth" Xie Lian showing his age 😂 Sometimes the way he talks makes me think in a Modern AU he'd be a boomer. Aren't you glad that TV shows can't add smell to your viewing (dis)pleasure? The book definitely makes this scene of finding the brides much more gruesome and disturbing. Just shows how good a make-up/costume designer Xiao-Ying is that all the villagers immediately thought Xie Lian was a bride in distress. It's definitely interesting that the common people believe in Heaven's wrath when, like you said, Heaven don't get involved in mortal matters unless under specific circumstances. The villagers' fear regarding the blood I think is intrinsically linked with traditional Chinese culture in regards to blood being the mother of qi. It's something inherited from your parents and is vital to life. The blood forest is described so perfectly that you can easily picture it in your mind. There's definitely a lot of potential scapegoating going around. And those most at risk are women and/or the weaker members of society. Xuan Ji could also be seen as a scapegoat as they try to fob off that Pei Ming isn't accountable for her actions when he's the one that made her like that in the first place, and then proceeded to ignore her. Ling Wen really being kind of savage about Pei Ming. Just call him a man-whore my dear 🤣 But yeah, poor Ling Wen. Xie Lian really needs to help her narrow down that list if he wants to use her like a search engine. In regards to liking Pei Ming, without spoiling, for me I was excited for his appearance to see your reaction to him. And I will continue to enjoy seeing your reactions to his character. Welcome to Tian Guan Ci Fu! We did warn you that parts were much more horrific than Mo Dao Zu Shi. But yeah Xiao-Pengtou's death is graphic. It truly bugs me so much about Xiao-Ying's death. If the Heavenly Realm had gotten involved even a little bit earlier, she'd still be alive. It's heart-breaking. Xie Lian's had enough drama of his own. He doesn't need anyone else's added on top of it all. I dislike Xie Lian being considered a weirdo, but I do like that he's one to live by the motto "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". I do think though that his past with being judged has really helped him to have such a strong conviction on not judging others simply based on hearsay, and to only make a decision on how he feels about them through his own personal experiences with those people, ghosts included. The comment about there being kindness in evil and evil in kindness really makes me think of the yin-yang symbol and how each side also contains a dot of the opposite one. The crumbs we keep getting about Xie Lian's second ascension! 👀 Also just helping show how badass our cinnamon bun can be too. I love Xie Lian telling Fu Yao and Nan Feng off for using him as a weapon. I always see this as Xie Lian basically telling them not to fight his battles for him or speak for him. And this is something Hua Cheng/San Lang does, which makes me love him all the more. Xie Lian couldn't get anymore precious with that "throw me, don't throw food" but it also hurts 😭 "This is going to ruin me" 🤣 Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is just too good at sending you down the rabbit holes.

I'm honestly excited (albeit nervous) to see how grotesque things are going to get in the novel and manhua -- me and my morbid fascination! I DO love Xuan Ji in the manhua -- that tattoo and her appearance are gorgeous! And ooohhh, Pei Ming was okay with threesomes. Good. Good to know. XD And wow.....the way you phrase that about him coming back to fight the Emperor...hm. INTERESTING. Going to file that away! Hahaha! Thank you so much for the comment! Onward to Part 3!!

I get such a Doctor Who vibe from XL – like a timelord, thinking everyone around him is so young…but yes! The book definitely adds more details with XL and the senses with everything else going on! :) Joy! Haha! That’s interesting about the cultural significance of blood and it tying to the forest; YES, it was perfectly detailed in this! Ling Wen getting salty about Pei Ming is glorious! Give this girl some vacation time, seriously. XD I am DEFINITELY intrigued by his character and I have a feeling he’s going to lend for some interesting discussion when we cross paths with him in the novel! Xiao-Pengtou’s death is prettttty graphic and Ying’s death is heartbreaking. I love how XL comments on this in the story because it’s so true. It could have been prevented. And XL being self aware of his past and his own actions and choosing not to judge others. Ahhh….it’s great character building with him. And yessss, the CRUMBS of 2nd Ascension! I love it! Our cinnamon bun has SPICE! But he also isn’t about to stand around and let someone get hurt without offering his “services,” even if they mean using him. UGH. Staaaaahp, XL, you’re going to ruin me, indeed. I’m so excited for the third installment as we dive in! :) Thanks for the comment!!
