**LEGENDARY TROLL HEADPHONE WARNING**

We all knew it was going to happen, but this episode and the handling of Thors' character was astounding. What a LEGEND. I'm in awe of the pacing, the themes, and what this episode left on the table for the rest of the season and setting up for I feel the rest of the story.

And Thorfinn...my boy...a 6-year-old son's rage at his father's fate and not being able to understand his father's teachings to the fullest. Oof. Askeladd continues to intrigue, but I am feeling for our father-son duo in this episode. Definitely my favorite so far!

So I dont know how this is true,but i heard Eren was slightly inspired by Throfin. And you can see that rage and anger . And for sure the VA at the end was just screaming her heart out . Its one of the most raw voice acting sequences I have heard in a while . Also I might be interpreting this wrong. But when Askelad asked Thors to be their leader. I thought for a single moment Askelad was truly genuine and open about how he felt. There was no pretense or scheming and you could say it was a moment of weakness due to great presense of Thors and his ideals/how he carried himself impacted Askelad. Theres also a single moment where Askelad looks down realizing it was futile to ask this considering the context/situation. Yet he could not help it. Honestly i just love how much can be open to interpretation about characters ideology and feelinngs just based on facial expressions in this show . Theres quite a bit of show dont tell that really works in Vinland . Also if you ever decide to read Berserk, i would love to hear your thoughts . I actually started reading Berserk few weeks ago and Im near the end of this one of a kind experience. And I gotta say people saying it is one of the greatest manga ever created werent lying , lol.

omg I've actually been planning to read Berserk but I want to collect the series, so we will see how long that takes haha (I also want to read and collect Vinland too)

Its really really good and for the most part feel timeless and hold up even against the very modern manga . The only thing I would say ,its some of the subject matter and imagery will not be for everyone due to how explicit and graphic it can be . As for vinland manga, it def my all time fav and i prefer it over Berserk, tho that might be controversial lol

ah yes, that is definitely one way to completely destroy a 6-year-olds complete world... let's see how this continues now huh?... excited to see the rest of your reactions!!!

This episode guts me whenever I see it.. it is soo sad for a 6 yr old boy to see his dad that he worships being killed in front of him. And it is so unfair for Thors to exit this way , but what can you do !! War is a bitch and not every warrior has the same morals. And THAT shot of Thorfinn with hid dat dying while staying up !! It is timeless!! This ep is really an all timer! Because here begins Thorfinn’s journey !! With all the hate, rage and anger he has in his little heart! 😢😢 And Askeladd !! He is just one of the most intriguing characters I ve ever seen ! I am not gonna delve in it now cause it is too soon! Great reaction and discussion as always !!

And you can see that Askeladd have respect for Thors , thus the genuine momentary suggestion to become their leader that he flipped into a joke when he saw his men’s expression, also Askeladd getting angry against Ari for foolishly giving up his life while trying to kill him , a life Thors gave his to save.

I feel really badly for Thorfinn -- it's clearly going to be the catalyst for his growth as a character, but I'm scared to see how that develops! @_@ I guess we'll find out, eh? Thanks for the comment!

The mystery with Askelad is soooooo intriguing and delicious -- I cannot wait to get more into his character! And seriously...for Thorfinn to have to see his father die like that and question everything....UGH....it's rough. Thanks for the kind words and comment!! But yessss, you can tell Askeladd respected Thors; I can't wait to get more into his character! :)

I could DEFINITELY see Eren and Thorfinn's similarities, especially with their motivation at the start, here. That is FASCINATING if Askeladd was being genuine in wanting Thors to be a leader -- I think he definitely saw what an asset Thors was as a warrior and leader, which is why I think it pained him a little that he had to kill him because he was hired to - you could tell Askelad really respected Thors and that Thors surprised him in the best way from what he was thinking walking into the battle. I agree -- the facial expressions in this show are just SO telling and one of my favorite parts about it so far! And when I finish Neon Genesis, I'm going to have a poll for a manga series to read and I was planning on including Berserk on it. I honestly have wanted to read it for a while, so hopefully it will win! :) Thanks for the comment!
