**GUARD YOUR EARS FOR THIS ONE**

How can this show keep getting better? Seriously -- I'm gushing for an hour about the character development, all the interactions weaving between teams, DEMON AKAMATSU, Sawamura and Miyuki BASICALLY being a could-be BL couple, and Koshu's PRIDE and PROMISE...this series. It just doesn't miss.

On top of that, we have Haruichi stabbing us in the feels, Furuya taking his next step towards becoming a better player, and seeing how the first years across the board are showing their talent and where they definitely need improvement...oh, and we get Sawamura and Kuramochi's birthdays. AND a summer training camp is coming up. AND the summer tournament is on the horizon! Just...*FANS SELF* It's so much to take in, but I LOVE IT.

Ahh the last op of the anime. I actually love this op lol the song is different to the rest but I like it a lot. And seeing the whole team lined up with Sawamura at the helm is so good. I'm actually really glad they did a quick overview of Mochis backstory from the OVA. Just so the people who didn't watch them have some context for him. Its really nice seeing Miyukis thoughts about how him and Zono differ. I think this is the first time he's been able to see why Zono would've also made a good captain and why he was chosen as a vice captain. It's very sweet. I think you missed some of it because you were writing notes but the best thing to me about the Naruta game isn't that Sawamura pretty much completely dominates them, it's that all of Seidou: the first string, second string, and no string members were watching and were cheering for him and watching to see him keep up with riding the wave of dominance. Takatsu actually verbally says "go" outloud quietly while looking at Sawamura in support and it's just so sweet because they all know how hard he's worked for this. Ugh. My heart. I love that they show us a little bit of Miyuki and Sawamura during the off season the past winter actually making up the numbers. I still think that flip off grip would've been great lol. But it's nice to see how far they've come with them. It must've taken a toooon of work. Which also makes us realize that when they went to Koshien, when Sawamura had that shitty start and that entire game against Hongou when he sat in the bullpen, he had the numbers in his pocket and just wasn't able to use pull them out because he only got the one chance. I dont think Sawamura will EVER trust a compliment from Miyuki lol. He'll always assume Miyukis teasing him but that's Miyukis fault for being such a troll 😂 Seeing Toujou take the mound is so exciting lol. Its like it was always in the background of "oh yeah he was a pitcher" and they even remind you in episodes before this but it always feels like kind of a distant goal. Not a right now thing lol I love seeing Sawamura in left field. I always understood why they didn't put him there previous to this (because his batting isn't good enough that they'd really need him in the lineup if he's not pitching) but I've always wanted to see him used the same way Furuya has been. 2 homeruns in the same game is wild. Miyukis batting improvement is so underrated in my opinion. People tend to forget that this is the same boy who couldn't get a HIT in general if someone wasn't on base lol. Now he's here hitting multiple homeruns in the same game, being walked by teams nervous about his batting average. Crazy. Seeing the first year's picking up tires to try to train like Sawamura is so heartwarming lol. Something that seemed so silly and overzealous at the beginning of season 1, running with a tire or 2 to show Kataoka that he was serious has turned into a symbol of working hard to make the first string and its so nice. I don't really see Sawamura telling Yui he's gonna focus on fastballs with him and then the numbers with Miyuki as him rejecting Yui necessarily. I think coming out of the Narata game where he came out in the 7th because he was tired, he decided to really focus on the fastballs and making sure they were really consistent. I think he would practice the numbers with Yui if he hadn't had the session with Miyuki already planned but he wanted to just focus that time on fastballs. I could be wrong though that's just how I took it. I love Koushuu sticking to his guns with Kataoka. We all wanna see the MuraMura battery but I love that he doesn't break his promise to himself. He's so interesting with baseball honestly. It feels like he has the utmost respect for the sport and the different elements which is why he felt like he wasn't worthy to catch Sawamuras pitches. He still doesn't understand the having fun concept but he really does respect it which I love. I think his stubborness about playing only as a catcher comes from him wanting to participate where he knows he does best which is catcher. There's a lot of characters in this show that absolutely would never budge off the positions they want to play so I respect him for knowing what role he has that will do the most for the team. Ah Misawas room date lol. I love it so much. It's not even like they were discussing strategy. When Koushuu comes in Sawamura is laying on the floor reading a manga and Miyuki is cleaning or oiling his glove lmao. Like they must've just been sitting there in relative silence enjoying eachothers company. Just boyfriend things indeed. The parallels between Koushuu and Miyuki are ASTOUNDING. There's honestly too many to even keep track of. They're so similar. I'm sure Miyuki loooves finally having someone to fight with over the starting position. He didn't ever get the chance to fight with Chris over starting catcher. Here's Koushuu though 😂 God I love Furuyas conversation with Yui. The fact that Yui looks up to Furuya so much STILL after that issue they had before is so sweet. You can tell Yui is still quite unsure about his decision to agree to another position and needs guidance and comfort. I dont know if Furuya really even knows that that's what Yui needed from him since he was also having some revelations through that conversation himself but the way he just openly talked about his feelings with Yui was so nice to see. And i love that we get to see that Sakai (former 3rd year who gave Furuya his glove for the outfield) really had a big impact on Furuya even a year later. He still remembers him giving Furuya his glove for the team to help him. We don't ever see Furuya so candid about his struggles and thoughts. Its such a good conversation and I'm glad he opened up to Yui and seemingly helped him with his own struggles about the same thing. You can really feel Furuyas emotions in that conversation. Koushuus impressions of Miyuki and Sawamura will forever make me laugh lol. How Sawamura became MORE sparkly eyed in Koushuus head than even real life, I don't know. And I don't know what Miyuki did to deserve this evil purple aura lmao Raichis laugh can cure any illness I swear. It's so cute and airheaded but so innocently joyful lol I'm surprised Kousei doesn't get punched in the face more often. He's so oblivious it hurts me lol. Hes such a menace but I adore him. Unfortunately with the Inashiro/Hakuryuu game, Mei only pitched the 8th and 9th innings so he only faced Mima once. They scored 3 runs off Hirano, not Mei so Sawamura can't really claim to be better 😂 not yet at least. Also, Itsuki is the actual cutest little plum I've ever seen. His hug attempt and subsequent blush at Mei calling him an idiot. Ugh. So bloody cute. And I can actually say something about Furuya at third and how nervous he was since I used to be a pitcher and a 1st/3rd baseman. Being on the bases, especially 3rd is really different to being on the mound when it comes to hits to you. Most people are right handed, and most batters pull the ball to whatever side of the field they're standing on when they're at bat. Whichever side of the plate they stand on, they tend to hit to that side. So 3rd base, short stop, and left field get a majority of the hits since most batters are right handed. It's a very different feeling to be the pitcher who's in charge of starting every play and being the 3rd baseman who's standing at the ready. When you throw the ball as a pitcher, you're immediately ready to catch as soon as you let go of the ball. You know what you threw and you know where the ball is likely to go as long as something crazy doesn't happen, the 3rd baseman often can't see what pitch the catcher is calling for so they can't predict where it'll go. Although I was always more worried about being hit as the pitcher, I was always more conscious about hits coming to me as a 3rd baseman. I would've expected them to put Furuya on 1st base since it sees less hit action but they may not trust him to remember everything a 1st baseman does lol. Just a little experience from me. Anyway, I am very excited for next week 😈

Awww, it’s the last OP?! Noooooo – I do like it a lot, though! :) That is nice that they glossed over the “important” aspects of Mochi’s OVA; it’s so good! I like that we’re getting more into Miyuki’s head and how he compares himself with others; he’s been so “closed off” and somewhat mysterious in this series – of course, it’s cruel and wonderful that the closer we get to him graduating, the more we get into his headspace. :’) Also, the flip-off grip is wonderful and I love it! :D Such boys! I love that we get that little flashback, too! And uggggh, that is HARD knowing he could have used the numbers at Koshien, but wasn’t able to. No wonder he was frustrated. >.< But my dude…just…I will live for the moment that Sawamura realizes Miyuki IS complimenting him! UGH. Awwww, I’ll have to go back and re-watch, because I love that Sawamura’s team is supporting him as the lead pitcher..the..possible….ACE…if you will. ;) Maybe. Hopefully. We’ll see, haha! That’s so wonderful, though! At least he does well in left field! :D I was SO excited to see Tojo getting to pitch! :) The game itself was crazy for Tojo, for Miyuki (our boy that has grown so much as a batter as Sawamura has as a pitcher – SO PROUD) – it’s good stuff! I love that Sawamura has his new league of tire-toting proteges! It’s so adorable and heartwarming! Maybe Sawamura didn’t mean anything by turning down the numbers with Yui; Yui just looked a little disheartened, but maybe that was me reading into it, haha! And Koshuuuuuu, this set of episodes really made me like his character. He’s so tsundere and gutsy, sticking to his guns; we love to see it! And MURAMURA! Awwww, I love that name! I can’t believe it didn’t hit me sooner, haha!! The room date was just wonderful! And YES, Koshu is a LOT like Miyuki! Must be why Sawamura likes him, haha! I love the idea that Miyuki is excited to be able to compete with someone (Ono is off in the corner huffing, haha! Kidding!) – And Koshu’s impressions of them! AMAZING. Furuya and Yui’s bond they’re forging is really nice – I love that often Furuya has an impact on other characters and is pretty unaware of it…sort of like Sawamura, right? :) It’s great to see Furuya showcasing some emotions and making these connections with his teammates. That is REALLY interesting to know about the 3rd base position, especially compared to 1st base! Thank you for sharing that!! I hadn’t thought about that aspect of there being some uncertainty since he’s NOT the pitcher and doesn’t know what’s going to happen! INTERESTING! @.@ Back to the other games, YES, Raichi’s laugh is so pure and innocently joyful indeed; it’s why he’s one of my favorites. Though…the CHAOS of that team and their first years! And Kosei…what a genius but an odd duck; we do adore him, though, don’t we. And ahhhh, that makes sense he only pitched the 8th and 9th innings. Ahh…good point. And Itsuki is adorable. What a plum, indeed (love that nickname for him). Thank you for the comment and ooohhhh, I can’t wait to see what goes down next week, either! The devil face, though? Hmmmmmmmmmmm…hahaha!!
